People cannot afford to go see movies any more.........................
Not a subscriber, so can’t read the whole article.
How is “Truth” doing?
What about the Rather-gate movie?
I saw the Martian and thought it was pretty good, and I really liked the Intern. Haven’t seen any of these mentioned in this article.
How many Steve Jobs flops will they make before they stop trying?
Wait until 12/18
Are any of the actors in those movies conservative types? I know I will never watch Steve Jobs because of actor in it.
I think this is the season they release their weak or oddball movies before the holiday season.
These days I only go to movies if they are a group event kind of movie like a Star Wars release or a Marvel movie or any movie that is made to be seen on a big screen. Human interest or comedy movies I just don’t think are worth the expense when they will be on Cable or Netflix in a short time.
When the endless ads for the Jobs movie were on TV, I kept wondering who wanted to see another movie about a self absorbed geek wanna be. Now I know - no one.
The Kasbah movie MIGHT have been a hit about ten years after we were out of Afghanistan, and been successful, but not now.
The Last Witch Hunter is a straight up good versus evil movie; light on story, lot’s of action. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon.
you could not pay me to go see any movie with Seth Rogin in it , I would never contribute to that dirtbag’s earnings . EVER!
Jem and the Holograms? Really? That was doomed to fail from its inception.
Even the ones making money —like The Martian — are horrible. Hollywood is really running out of gas. If you want innovation, look to cable TV.
We would go to the movies all the time. Just make something that entertains us, not sickens us.
Movie attendance has flatlined since the mid-60’s. Hollywood sells about 1.2 billion movie tickets a year, compared to some 4.1 billion tickets a year during the height of the Great Depression.
In 1935 some 80 million people a week would go to the movies when the population was barely 120 million. So nearly 65% of the population was going to the movies. Contrast that with today when only 23 million people got to the movies every week compared to a population of some 320 million people.
The ONLY reason Hollywood still makes money is jacked up ticket prices by push premiere formats like 3D and IMAX.
My family went to see the movie Woodlawn for $7.00 each on weekend matinee. Excellent movie—sort of like Remember the Titans with a spiritual (Jesus) dimension. My daughter said one of the best she has ever seen :) Highly recommend it
Did we really need yet another Steve Jobs movie?
“Jem and the Holograms”???
LOL! What?
Someone made a movie of this?!
