America's Soft Tyranny is Hardening (Constitutional Republic Is Gone)
American Thinker ^ | Patricia McCarthy

Posted on 10/31/2015 12:03:45 AM PDT by quesney

We are semi-officially a lawless, soft (but hardening) tyranny. How else does one explain Lois Lerner not being charged with the numerous crimes she has most certainly committed? As many others have noted, the fix was in as surely as the fix is in on the countless crimes committed by Hillary Clinton and her grubby Clinton Foundation that sells influence at very high prices. Like Lerner, Clinton likely will be deemed above the law. General Petraeus and several others were charged, jailed and/or fined for crimes so minimal compared to Hillary's because they did not toe the Obama line: no deviation from the agenda is allowed, no criticism of the regime will be tolerated.

American citizens outside of the protective bubble of the government are expendable. They are fodder... The IRS, the EPA, the DOJ, the VA, and the FEC under Obama are free to target and abuse those of us without the resources to protect ourselves. The countless good people who were targeted by the IRS were prevented from exercising the freedoms guaranteed to them by the Constitution. The actions of Lerner and the IRS very likely changed the outcome of the 2012 election. Prevent, with malice aforethought, hundreds of conservative groups across from organizing and raising money and you have silenced millions of people.

What is Obamacare if not bureaucratic abuse? The many lies told in the run-up to its passing are well known now as millions have lost the medical insurance they had. Those who have signed on are paying as much as 200% more for less coverage. All the hype about lower costs was lies...It is a massive wealth redistribution scheme...Only the people receiving it for free can "afford" it because the rest of us, who cannot afford it, are paying for them.

“This explains Boehner, the GOPe, everything... “

you know what explains it easier without a James Bond script?

They are liberals. Yea pretending there is some greater thing at work helps people stomach the outcome easier but at the end of the day there need not be 30 year old FBI files in play. Just the simple reality that they agree with Barry from the beginning and want what he wants.

This is exactly why we must elect Donald Trump. He is the only candidate not owned by the system. I have no doubt that his AG will be top notch and go after these people!

Everyone else will be too afraid! This tyranny needs to stop. He is the only one with brass ones to do it and help us get our nation back again.

If he campaigned hard on that and told America that Cruz would be his AG/FBI director if elected, he’d probably get more converts from those of us not on board the train..

Over half the People in this Country are just fine with it or they are just ignorant of it. I’m betting on the former rather than the latter.

I watched a rerun of The Jimmy Kimmel Show tonight that was filmed in New York on the 21st of October. The guest of Honor was Bernie Sanders.

Bernie got a standing ovation when he came out on Stage and every crazy Policy he pontificated was greeted with the same enthusiasm by the Audience.

In Bernie’s and obviously the Audience’s world, everything is Free and we are a terrible Country for not “giving” its Citizens all the Free Stuff the rest of the World gives to their so called Citizens.

Since I have never heard more than one sentence that Socialist Stooge has ever muttered, I was disgusted.

I cant wait until Lois Lerner is invited on Kimmel’s Show. She will probably get the same adoration from the Audience that Bernie did.

The seeming contradiction between recognition of an emerging tyranny and reluctance to do anything substantive about it resides deep in our psyche. Our Founders, Eric Hoffer, (The True Believer) and others have written at length of man's propensity to accept political discomforts rather than “abolish the Forms to which they are accustomed.”

Second, passions rather than reason typically direct our public affairs. Fear of the unknown prevents Article V opponents from equating a common congressman who proposes an amendment with a state delegate in convention who also proposes an amendment.

Most Article V opponents assume that state delegates to an amendments convention will perform their duties in the same reprehensible manner we know so well from the Uniparty denizens in Washington, DC. Since most congressmen and senators would sell their souls today for reelection tomorrow, opponents expect states to send hacks with no interest beyond their own to an Article V convention. An erroneous equivalence is made between the familiar, and that which we have never seen.

If there is an institution analogous to an amendments convention, it is the Electoral College. We have never had a ‘runaway’ electoral college because electors are statutorily responsible to their states. For the very same reason there is no reason to fear a runaway amendments convention.

Finally, there are some prominent conservative opponents to Article V. It is natural to respect the opinions of those we respect.

Perhaps conservative opponents will put aside their anti-Article V passion when their local imam sentences them to fifty lashes for blaspheming islam . . . but by then of course it will be too late.

I agree with the premise of the article. It does put into perspective how special the founders were. People today have the means but not the character to pledge their lives, fortunes and sacred honor to preserve liberty. They’d rather watch Netflix, play video games and smoke pot.

Article V invites us to exercise our constitutionally authorized remedy for tyranny . . . Why are so many conservatives on these threads outraged by the loss of their liberties but equally phobic at the suggestion that we do what the Constitution itself tells us to do?

Both governing parties have already rejected the Jury Box as a solution to this problem, so I only see three possible remedies:

1. The 2016 election brings in a real president, one who cleans house, cuts the federal government back to its authorized size, and restores the rule of law,

2. As you said, the Article V option to bring the federal government back into its appropriate limits, or

3. When in the Course of human events . . . .

I'm not optimistic about Option 1, but I feel morally obligated to try one final time, just as even a skeptic might try marriage counseling after discovering a spousal affair. If the 2016 election goes to a big government liberal on either side, then I will give up on the Ballot Box.

I am not optimistic about Option 2, but the pacifist side of me (and, yes, I strongly prefer to avoid violence - because force, when used, should be decisive) sees that attempt as necessary as well. If patriotic Americans take to the soap box at an Article V convention and either fail to pass new rules or those rules are ignored, then I will give up on the Soap Box as well.

As for Option 3, that is incredibly costly. However, passing on a country that is no longer free would be a disservice to our children and a crime against those who gave their lives to preserve American freedom - a far higher price than the down side of Option 3. We allowed this mess, which has been growing slowly for generations, to get out of control. It is our duty to fix it.

Declaration of Dependence POSOTUS declaring “charter of negative liberties” with the build out of executive branch power, the check$ and balance$ CONgre$$ flowing funds to the politically elite in FEDGOV, STATEGOV, NGOGOV and cronies in NONGOV, has placed us, our kids and grandkids in peonage penitentiary electronically monitored by TPTB.

11. As soon as sufficient progress in the intended change shall have been made, and the public mind duly prepared according to the rules already laid down, it will be proper to venture on another and a bolder step toward a removal of the constitutional landmarks.

6. But the grand nostrum will be a public debt…

And it is said,by some— we get the government we deserve.
As yourself has so rightly said —it fall back on us— for as another said it is the duty of the people to keep the government from falling into error.— Seems I recall reading that in connection to a Court ruling long ago.

Consider the reported statement at a recent Q&A by Justice Anthony Kennedy....he apparently openly compared his recent ruling regarding marriage to the judicial climate of the Third Reich....and suggested Christians withdraw from participation if they can’t comply.

Talk about a seared conscience.

Repost of my reply to a Cruz/Budget thread last night that also applies here:

It’s like they don’t even pretend to follow the Constitution
anymore. Looks like old Grand Moff Tarkin’s words were not
just a line from a movie but a real prophecy:

“The Imperial Senate will no longer be of any concern to us. I’ve just received word that the Emperor has dissolved
the council permanently. The last remnants of the Old
Republic have been swept away.”

Guess it is “Never give up, never surrender time” again.
