Cruz: Next president will get do-over on IRS-tea party investigation
Washington Times ^ | Monday, November 2, 2015 | Stephen Dinan

Already planning for a GOP president in 2017, Sen. Ted Cruz sent a letter Monday demanding that the Justice Department preserve all documents from its completed investigation into the IRS's tea party targeting, saying too many questions still remain.

Mr. Cruz, a Texas Republican who is himself seeking his party's presidential nomination, said the department's decision to close the investigation and clear IRS employees of any wrongdoing was a sign of just how broken the Justice Department has become.

"It is important for you and other officials in this Administration to understand that this administration's decisions to neither continue this investigation nor appoint a special prosecutor do not represent the conclusion of this matter," Mr. Cruz said in a letter to Attorney General Loretta Lynch. "Given this Administration's refusal to conduct itself appropriately, or take the issue of the potential illegal conduct of IRS employees seriously, any subsequent administration should reserve the right to reopen the matter, conduct its own investigation, or appoint a special prosecutor to conduct an investigation."

Mr. Cruz charged Ms. Lynch with preserving all documents obtained by her investigators during their probe, and said copies should be given to the National Archives and to the department's inspector general so they could also preserve them.

And the senator warned that anyone who doesn't comply with his request could face criminal penalties.

"It is my hope that a future administration would pursue justified prosecutions with all due energy," he said.

This is one reason we need Ted Cruz as Attorney General.

But you don’t get MY point. Stop trashing Cruz. Support the Donald all you want, but if you’re a conservative knock off the Cruz bashing. You’ve been warned.

Trump has also hinted “we will be looking at a lot of things”. Hopefully Cruz will be at least made new attorney general, go after IRS scandal, fast n furious cover up, Zero’s birth records, Zero Jarrett and Hitlery’s muzzie brotherhood connections and their positions in DHS, Iran scandal, server scandal which surely will be others violating national security, ...it goes on and on. Target rich environment. No quarter to these scumbags.

And who exactly are YOU to threaten another FReeper to post only what YOU feel is appropriate for her to post? And here I thought thoughtcrime was relegated to Obama's America and 1984, and here you are, exemplifying it for all to see...

You would make those at DU proud...

I think you are missing the point HL. Cruz is probably polling around 15-17 percent nation-wide but the numbers are being suppressed by liberal groups that understand that he is a major danger since he will stand up to both establishments. Can he beat Clinton? He would massacre her in a debate and the liberals know it. Can Trump be an effective debater?Probably no but he can bring Union people over to vote for him. Cruz is the key for victory over the dems. If Trump wins the nomination and selects Cruz as his running mate then that combination will be unstoppable. Trump would probably only serve one term and then we could have Cruz for eight years. Bad mouthing Cruz does the conservative base no good. We NEED Trump to pick him as a running mate if we are going to get as many people to the polls as possible. Cruz is my first choice but a Trump/Cruz ticket could undo so much of the damage that Obama has caused.

I am starting to come to the conclusion that only the people that know of Trump are saying they will vote for him. In other words, all the 50+ million peole who didnt vote (the silent majority) are staying quiet and biding their time. They dont want to show their hand, keeping cards close to their vest.

When the time comes, we pray to God that they come out and stand once and for all, blowing all the rest out of the water.

Ted Cruz 16

I can understand your point, but Cruz is a politician, sorry, but he is, and he is for amnesty, and this election is being run to get rid of immigration....

I think a Trump/Cruz ticket is great and have said so, but Cruz doesn't have to goods on Clinton like Trump has, you can't be in the business he's in and as big as he is and not know things...and in New York you know you got to have knowledge about people there....I lived on the East Coast for 17 years, believe me you better know who your friends are....

I think Cruz as V.P. or A.G. or Supreme Court would be great, and this mess about the House and Senate....can you imagine all those in the Senate that have stabbed Cruz in the back, now as V.P. having to look ‘up’ to him? It does do something to the mind, even with 99.9% of the crooks in there...

I think Trumps numbers are being suppressed also, the libs are scared to death this time, not only by Cruz but by Trump and you put them two together, I wouldn't be surprised if Hillary hasn't been to see ‘the godfather’ for help!!!

There is one word in there that leaves a LOT of wiggle room; unconstitutional.

Who is it who decides what is unconstitutional?

I could see certain parties filing lawsuit upon lawsuit to put the whole process into a quagmire for eternity.

A close second was Bush’s failure to clean house of a lot of Clinton political appointees. His whole administration was salted with hostile Clinton henchmen.

Very true.

On the flip side, I was in Iraq at the end of the Bush administration and at the beginning of the Obama presidency. In just a short period of time, I felt much less safe after the changing of the guard.

Trump is a liberal, so my plan is to expose him as a liberal. I’m doing so because the gloves are now off. You’re an opionated blowhard that wants to kill other conservative republicans. So that’s what I’m going to do. Trump was for unfettered immigration before he was against it. The Donald loves him some emminant domain. Both liberal positions. Oh and he loves giving cash to and partying with the Clintons. And he “admires” president obama, much like John McCain.

All those Cruz threads where you feel compelled to slam Cruz, I’ll be there, exposing you and your liberal love, The Donald, a reality TV star. He’s right up there with Snookie and Flav O Flave!

So keep on trashing Cruz and I’ll do the same to your boyfriend, The Donald.

“...Cruz is not going to beat Trump...”

Nor does he need to. “Trump” will beat Trump. He’s like a joke that was gut-bustingly funny the first time you hear it, but after you hear it hundreds of times, the shtick just gets old. What was one of his latest quotes during an interview:

...Trump proceeded to rip into a panelist on “Morning Joe” on Monday morning for “fawning” over Rubio and saying “how handsome he is,” adding “I think I’m better looking than he is. Am I better looking than him?”...

He had Rubio nailed for being over-rated and a lightweight, but his ego wouldn’t let him ignore the press thinking Rubio was handsome. That’s just embarrassing and a bit sad. So I expect Trump will beat himself, most likely during a fit of pure narcissism.

Your opinion may vary.

“...this election is being run to get rid of immigration...”

Bull-Butter!

Unemployment is through the roof; the economy is in shambles with stagnant growth and accumulating debt; tax policy is oppressive; we have disastrous foreign policy that is opening us up to real & credible threats on multiple fronts; we have an education system in crisis due to policy (common-core); crime is rising across he board; Oh and we also have a well & truly broken immigration policy that is currently ignoring illegal immigration — and those are just at the top of a very loooooooong list of issues for voters and the nation.

So yes, immigration is one of the *MANY* issues we face, but it is not the sole factor deciding this election. It is Trumps “Store-Window” prominent issue because he likes to brag that he can get Mexico to pay for the fence due to his (ahem) “unstoppable” negotiating skills. Since it is Trump’s big issue, that likely explains why it is a big issue with you. But everybody I know are more interested in jobs and the economy first and foremost. Immigration is absolutely in the mix and definitely needs to be addressed, but folks desperately want to go back to work first and last I heard, illegal Mexican day-labor isn’t undermining I.T. sector jobs and the like.
