Geez, when are these extra characters that show up unsolicited going to disappear from posts? Where’s the cure? Why is it happening? Why the silence about it? It never happened before about a month ago, and now, all the time. I hope to heck someone is working on this problem, because it is a total distraction when reading on threads. Enough is enough.
But this is one glitch that is seemingly never-ending...yet we get not ONE thread or post from the PTB on a possible cause, on steps being taken....and nary even a word or two about a possible timetable for a cure. Such information would be most welcome as this problem drags on. From posts I read almost every day some freepers still think the problem is in their own computers. I hope they don't call in expensive computer technicians for "repair".

The problem is that the poster is using a curled closing quotation mark instead of the apostrophe or double quote to the right of the semicolon key on the keyboard, or their browser is automatically replacing a quotation mark with a curly closing quote. Can't is not the same thing as can’t, and if the poster would preview their post they'd be able to see the problem and fix it before they post.
Where’s the cure?
If you copy and paste from other sources, and the copy include apostrophes or quotation marks, they come out in some kind of code. The cure is to delete the code, enter the mark from your keyboard and post. I did it and it works.
