The two front-runners in the Republican race for the 2016 presidential nomination just got a bigger entourage.
The Department of Homeland Security has authorized 24-hour Secret Service protection for billionaire Donald Trump and retired surgeon Ben Carson, who are swapping the top spots in all major national polls of GOP candidates.
The taxpayer-funded expense was authorized by DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson after consulting with a small panel of congressional leaders.
The request comes about two weeks after the Trump and Carson campaigns formally requested the protection.
*snip*
The two candidates will receive 260 agents between them, according to Fox News.

Surprised Trump wouldn’t stick with his own security.

The Secret Service gives the Trump team access to gov’t intel.

Good. I’d rather pay for this than Michelle’s trips or Irans weapons any day
They’re targets.

It's official: Secret Service now guarding Trump, Carson around the clock - at taxpayer expense I'm curious. Do they have a pool of these guys sitting around or are these the ones that could no longer put up with Hildabeast's outbursts?

His own security is not privy to national security information updates in a timely fashion.
He needs to have a security detail that has top national security information access.
Ex: They can get him out of an area where terrorism is thought to be about to take place, and his own team wouldn’t even know about it.

I don't think there is any rule that says he can't have his own security in addition to secret service protection.
As for the taxpayer expense, that's the price we pay for allowing insane liberal moonbats to roam about freely.

at taxpayer expense Well yeah, it's at the taxpayer's benefit too.
If something were to happen to Trump, it could be a very big loss to the nation if he can do what he says he intends to.

That's right, during the primary when Moochel Obama complained the racist whites in America were going to murder her husband before he gets elected was being guarded by the secret service and of course the Chinese paid for it not the tax payers of the United States. Even today, the secret service are being paid by the Chinese not the tax payers of the US!
How could I have ever forgotten that/s off

I don’t mind paying for this. As long as a certain other detail is thinned a bit to compensate.

I though Secret Service protection for leading candidates was standard operating procedure?

Before the libs start bitching and moaning, they need to know that the SS began guarding Hussein in September of 2007.
To: jessduntno
Quite frankly Trump must have bells the size of churchballs when making public appearances after the Mexcian drug cartel threats.
To: RoosterRedux
So that’s like 5 agents each, 24 x 7. Plus a little overhead.
