The Supreme Court can only issue an opinion. There is NOTHING in the Constitution that forces anyone else to obey it as if it where “law”. We obey laws in this country, not opinions. The only people who can change the law concerning marriage in the state of Kentucky is the Kentucky State Legislature. Until this happens, whatever the present law in that state says is the law and if same sex marriages are not legal, they are not legal. Bevin can also let his legislature know right up front that any law they pass which allows same-sex marriage will see his veto pen.

Well put. I was going to welcome you to FR as I don’t recall running across you, then I checked out your handle date. Pleased to meet your acquaintance.

One thing I would add to your excellent observation was that governments derive their power from the OBEDIENCE of the governed. Not their consent.
