Movie tickets, Costco and grocery store runs, Walt Disney World trips, flowers and flights for his wife –- those are some of the charges listed in two years of statements for Marco Rubio’s American Express card issued by the Republican Party of Florida.

The charges -- which have surfaced along with questions about his personal finances as an issue for the GOP candidate in the 2016 campaign -- are listed in two years (2007-'08) of statements obtained by ABC News that have been widely circulated in Florida political circles since Rubio ran for Senate in 2010. The Rubio campaign plans soon to release the records for the two other years (2005-'06) he had the card.

Exactly. Also, why would any politican (or anyone else) want to add personal expenses onto a business card? I would think you’d want to keep your personal expenses private, rather than subjecting them to the public examination of a business account. I don’t understand why anyone would want to mix accounts on that point alone.

Rubio made notes on what he spent on personal expenses, and reimbursed the GOP in full every month when the bill came in. It doesn’t sound very scandalous to me.

That raises a question. Why didn't he have his own card for those charges?

this was unauthorized us of a credit card over $1000. That is a felony in any state in the union. It is a fatal flaw in what was his campaign.

It would seem that the Florida Republican Party wasn’t particularly interested in opening up their books on how certain folks used Party CC.

http://www.tampabay.com/news/politics/stateroundup/marco-rubio-spent-lavishly-on-a-gop-credit-card-but-some-transactions-are/2252470

“As speaker of the Florida House, Rubio was one of about a half-dozen lawmakers given Republican Party of Florida credit cards. During the Senate race, the Times/Herald obtained Rubio’s statements from 2006 and 2007, showing he routinely charged personal expenses, from a $10.50 movie ticket to a four-day, $10,000 family reunion.”

This CC thing tied into Rubio’s general financial challenges in his personal life ... make Rubio less than a stellar choice to lead the charge to reduce the deficit. Kind of a perception issue. And then there’s the whole gang of 8 open borders thing w/ Rubio.

Rubio ... not my choice ... but I still think that GOPe will try to find some way to salvage Rubio or Bush ... with the goal of winning Florida in the general. I’m thinking Rubio does get past the CC issue.

I have a feeling that if he is elected we are still going to be paying for multimillion dollar vacations! No thanks.

I traveled all over the world on my company credit card. The card was in my name and I was responsible for the bills. When I completed a trip I submitted a report and got reimbursed for the valid company travel expenses. The only direct billed expenses were airline fare.

In addition to the personal charges Rubio made,
let’s see his canceled checks back to the GOP.

Let’s look at the dates, and the amounts.
And compare them to the personal charges he made.

Correct. Since 1990, I have had business and personal AMEX cards and never co-mingle charges. It would be irresponsible to do otherwise.

If the only proof that Sen. Rubio paid for these expenses is his word and those of his supportrs, I don’t believe it. Rubio is a proven liar. Why not charge these personal bills on his private credit card?

Sorry but he didn’t reimburse the GOP. He said he paid it directly to AMEX and has not produced any records to prove it.

There are also serious questions about political action committees he set up with most of the money donated going to “expenses” and salaries (including family members) with very little going to the candidates.

Give a minute and I will see if I can find the link for the document of research.

Amntn, I agree with you that there is something about this which does not pass the smell test. An accountant auditing this would insist upon supporting documentation and demand to see the accounting for all the expenditures related to these credit card charges...and that would include a breakdown of ALL debits and credits and documentation explaining each item as well as a proper “reconciliation”.

As to those who say “if the Florida Republican Party was OK with this, I’m OK with it”, they should know that Rubio, in a very real sense, WAS the Republican Party.

Costco only accepts cash or American Express card as payment. I’m no Rubio fan, but he probably didn’t have his own Amex card, so used the GOP one to buy stuff at Costco, which he reimbursed them for. Big Sarcastic Deal.

Yeah so Rubio spends a few thousand dollars while trump is about to have secret service which one day will cost more then any of this junk and Rubio paid it back. I wish Trump would be truthful in his “I am paying my campaign myself”. Obviously he is not. Flip Flopper.

“Costco” is only one item of many. You can put blinders on if you want.

Carson is also getting protection as will any candidate when they reach that level. Sounds to me like you are trying to compare apples to oranges. Also do you have any knowledge of what Rubio paid back on his credit card?

So when a person makes a donation to the GOP we can expect someone like Rubio to use his GOP charge card for things like movies, grocery store and flowers for his wife? Trump will be all over this.

And a trip to Disney World, for fundraiser? I'm in the wrong damn profession.

As I have stated in other posts I have made Rubio should have known this would come up and he should have addressed the issue early on. Not good on his part.
