The good news here, is this keeps mfgr’s busy making new firearms. This is a stupid policy however.
I never lost a weapon but I had a brother who did. It was a .44mag S&W so he really wanted it back. It was recovered but the cops refused to release it back to him. He spent more than the value of the weapon trying to get it back but to no avail.
