When Cruz Made This Remark, the Dials on Focus Group Soared: ‘Watch How High the Lines Climb’

Republican presidential contender Ted Cruz struck gold with his comments on immigration at Tuesday night’s debate, delivering remarks that resonated well with a Fox News focus group composed of New Hampshire primary voters.

“The Democrats are laughing, because if Republicans join Democrats as the party of amnesty, we will lose,” Cruz said.

“And, you know, I understand that when the mainstream media covers immigration, it doesn’t often see it as an economic issue,” he continued. “But, I can tell you for millions — of Americans at home watching this, it is a very personal economic issue. And, I will say the politics of it will be very, very different if a bunch of lawyers or bankers were crossing the Rio Grande. Or if a bunch of people with journalism degrees were coming over and driving down the wages in the press.”

Cruz then hit things home with a line that drew loud applause from the crowd.

“And, I will say for those of us who believe people ‘ought to come to this country legally, and we should enforce the law, we’re tired of being told it’s anti-immigrant,” he said. “It’s offensive.”

Those remarks, and that final line in particular, performed well with the Fox News focus group.

“Watch how high the lines climb,” pollster Frank Luntz commented as he showed the dials.

The more people actually hear Ted Cruz, the more the media caricature of him as a bomb-throwing radical crumbles.

So fighting back against the democrats and the liberal media seems to resonate. Just as it did the last debate when he basically made mince meat of the CNBC moderators. No fight=No turnout=we lose again. Go Trump-Cruz.

but, what they didn’t tell you is that the mark also indicated how many people were actively searching for the name “Ted Cruz” on the internet.

However, my local TV and (Fox & Friends) got it right.

The thing I like most about Cruz is that he is *not* a deal maker.

If Trump wins, the country wins if Cruz is either VP, AG, or a Supreme Court justice.

I think Cruz is by far the most intelligent person running, and he is the most honest person running. It’s hard for the media brown shirts to beat up on him when they get hit back.

I agree. And too many of them hate this country, swindle welfare agencies, and plan to destroy us.

The GOP-e’s assassins have their crossbows aimed at Cruz, but at this point they can no longer assassinate him stealthily.

On substance, Cruz was the clear winner of the debate.

The fifth-column leftist media whores will do everything they can to attack Ted Cruz. Their attacks on Dr. Carson were just practicing and warm-ups.

Wouldn't he make a great SCJ? Particularly if replacing Sleepy or Breyer? Or even Kennedy, who would like to retire if the inside baseball is valid.

Nino could take a deep breath with Cruz on a 6-3...

.
If Cruz fails to win, the country will be in freefall within a few months, regardless of who does win.

Keeping the country pointed up will be a tough job even for Cruz. No one else has a prayer.
