The Wheels Are (Finally) Coming Off the Trump Campaign
The Fiscal Times ^ | 11/13 | Rob Garver

Posted on 11/13/2015 9:04:22 AM PST by TangledUpInBlue

It took longer than almost anybody expected, but on Thursday night, it looked as though the wheels were finally starting to come off Donald Trump’s run for the presidency. It’s too early to write his political obituary just yet – he’s shown remarkable resilience in the face of ridicule and disdain – but even Trump will have trouble recovering from a day in which he repeatedly compared his chief rival to a “child molester” and invited attendees at a campaign event to bring a knife up on stage and try to stab him.

Trump has been aggressively attacking retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, who has pulled even with him in national opinion polls of Republican primary voters. Last weekend, Trump’s attacks became more pointed, and he latched on to a line from Carson’s book, Gifted Hands, in which Carson described his childhood temper as “pathological.”

I could do without the constant mention of the $10B business he has built...

I don’t think Jeb needs any help getting knocked out.

I wish he wouldn't do these kind of things as well, but he will win the nomination as long as he doesn't backtrack on immigration and/or does something really stupid; and I don't think he will.

Never the less, I still see Ted Cruz and Rubio as the two leaders fighting it out in the end.

Your post reads like you’re trying to convince yourself that Trump isn’t just about finito. Eventually you’ll grasp that people are really tiring of his antics.

I wish that Trump would gradually become more polished on the campaign trail. Oh, say the same basic things, but do so in a way that shows growth and learning. Personal attacks are NOT necessary - not unless he receives them first.

Carson should fall of his own accord - he’s not fit to be President, though a very good man and a very smart guy with his heart in the right place. Trump should attack Carson on his immigration stance, and perhaps on some foreign policy issues - not on the knife BS (and BS it is - it smacks of a fabricated story).

Yeah, I know, the more outrageous the statement, the more that Trump is in the news. But that is a double-edged sword - at some point, people are going to question HIS suitability for the office, regardless if they agree with him. I do think that his suitable, like few others are, but he’s not shown it this week.

Cruz’ biggest problem is he comes across as a televangelist. Oily, almost to the point of sounding insincere.

Well, I’d argue Trump tagging Jeb as “low energy” stuck. Not saying that is the single reason Bush’s campaign is on life support, just that “low energy” really does/did define Jeb the candidate.

But really I was just telling you what I think Trump would say. He is never going to let himself be cast as a loser, which is why if it appears he won’t win Iowa or the nomination in general he will drop out, say he was doing us all a favor, that he accomplished his mission, etc.

And the Saudis.

And the Mexicans.

And all the other border infiltrators.

Hell on subordinates though, I’ll give him that. And a passable amateur artist.

Things are so eff’ed up that only a flawed anti-hero can save us. We don’t need ‘nice’, moderate, ‘electable’ or someone so tainted by media bias against them that they will never win on their merits. That leaves Trump. I fully expect the Donald to come thru this as before, because the facts on the ground have not changed.

Trump is looking better at Carson now than he has in several weeks.

If your take on things were accurate, that wouldn’t be the case.

In you come with criticism that isn’t registering with the people being polled, and it just seems more like wishful thinking than a rational viewpoint.

It does happen to mirror the mindset of the GOPe as well.

Trump is not going to go quietly. He’s fired up and he’s going to carry this home next November.

Then things change.

You’ve said how you see it. This is how I see it.

God forbid, but lets say that I had a child that required brain surgery. I would look into the surgeons background. I learn that he claims to suffer from an undefined pathological problem. I learn that he tried to kill his mom, trying to hit her in the head with a rock. I learn that he used a knife to stab at a friend in an attempt to kill him.

I would conclude that this doctor was nuts or a liar.... or both.

Quite frankly, I wouldn’t need any more information than that to get me to find a different surgeon.

We already have a crazy liar in the White House, we sure don’t need another one to take his place. Although, we could be living in a time wherein we could all use our very own grain storage Pyramid in our back yards. Carson could help us out with that!!!
