The Wheels Are (Finally) Coming Off the Trump Campaign
The Fiscal Times ^ | 11/13 | Rob Garver

Posted on 11/13/2015 9:04:22 AM PST by TangledUpInBlue

It took longer than almost anybody expected, but on Thursday night, it looked as though the wheels were finally starting to come off Donald Trump’s run for the presidency. It’s too early to write his political obituary just yet – he’s shown remarkable resilience in the face of ridicule and disdain – but even Trump will have trouble recovering from a day in which he repeatedly compared his chief rival to a “child molester” and invited attendees at a campaign event to bring a knife up on stage and try to stab him.

Trump has been aggressively attacking retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, who has pulled even with him in national opinion polls of Republican primary voters. Last weekend, Trump’s attacks became more pointed, and he latched on to a line from Carson’s book, Gifted Hands, in which Carson described his childhood temper as “pathological.”

And yet his numbers against Carson’s are the best they’ve been in weeks.

Carson is being supported by people who don’t realize he’s probably worse than Bush II.

Trump is trying to save Iowans from themselves.

Cruz can't connect to the average voter.

And Hillary does? Not hardly!

Connecting to the average voter has zip to do with it. Democrats cheat for a reason -- if they didn't, they'd lose.

I watched most of it last night and I thought Trump looked tired and sounded a little flat. He needs to go home and take 2 days off and rest. But I hear he has some deal going on Sat. Trump is 69 years old. Its not going to do anybody any good if he keels over.

Yeah. Because his national health care plan is going to be “really, really terrific!”

This is a slanted piece, but Trump's speech yesterday was really, really weird.

I heard part of it. He rambles all over the place when he speaks ... sort of like the Pope. Trump can drift off into nut-job territory at times ... such as when he talks about blowing up pipelines and refineries taken over by ISIS that reside in sovereign countries, rebuilding them and then taking over the oil.

All of this is just lite entertainment while we await the election of Hillary

I’ll believe it when I see it, how many times has the press written about Trump’s “Howard Dean Scream Moment” only to see his poll numbers go higher.

Is there a link to his speech and would you be able to provide it? I tried to find it, to no avail. Thanks much.

You think he was kidding? I don't.

I think Trump is a true-blue American patriot who is very sincere in his intentions.

But I'm with you -- I think that people are projecting onto him all their own political desires, when his actual record shows him to be a "fix it with better government" kinda guy.

Ted Cruz, on the other hand, is a "fix it by eliminating excess government" kinda guy.

I heed my tagline these days when I vote.

Apparently Ted Cruz does come across to some people that way. He doesn’t to me at all. I believe he is as sincere and genuine as they get.

I like Cruz and Trump because they fight for what they believe. As far as the rest, Rubio, Bush, Kasich, Fiorina, and Carson they are simply going to follow the dictates of the establishment GOPe. I thought Carson may be different but is recent comments on immigration and when he was at Ferguson made be abandon him as a person I could support.

Trump should campaign on issues and hold off on bashing opponents until it's Hillary he is bashing.

Or whatever nightmare the Democrats nominate. How soon we forget 2007-08, when all we heard was "Anybody but Hillary!" We got our wish -- we got Obama. Hillary is loathed and held in contempt by the vast majority of Americans, including Democrats. It's the MSM that loves her and creates the illusion that she's the big powerful boogeyman. In reality, Hillary is a fraud.

IN ANY CASE -- Trump should keep the words "child molester" out of any political speech, as should any politician with class and/or instincts.

“...be able to accurately hit such a big target as his mother’s head or his friend’s tummy...”

His brother stopped him from using the hammer. His knife hit the friend’s belt buckle and knife broke. He was a teen ager when these things happened. He later accepted Jesus Christ as his savior, and controlled his temper from then on.

His mother couldn’t read but made the two sons read books and write book reports to her. Carson contributes his success to his mother.

She did learn how to read and became a success in employment. She now lives with Carson and his wife.

Exactly. Dwelling on it at all, let alone introducing the imagery that the words "child molester" automatically trigger, was ... well, money can buy airplanes and jewelry and nice cars and mansions, but it can't buy class.

That said ... I still love Trump and believe he is a sincere, true-blue patriot. But a very bad risk for limited government conservatives. Cruz to victory and liberty.

Trump will remain viable as long as Bush stays in the race.

He may own the country club ... but money has its limits and they are severe. It can't buy the ability to play the piao. It can't buy a black belt in karate.

And it sure as hell can't buy class.

“The story about a call from the legal dept. is just wrong on so many levels.” Please explain.

Ok, first of all I find it hard to believe that HR or legal would call him IN THE OR to discuss this.

Secondly, if they did contact him on the phone, they wouldn't discuss private personnel information on the phone. Especially something that could damage Dr. Carson's reputation like this.

And finally, this would not be how he found out about the claim he had another child, out of wedlock. It would take a court order to garnish wages and they would have already had to confirm paternity. Carson claims to have been surprised by the wages thing.
