I’m a Presbyterian (PCA, not PCUSA).

Bravo for your courage and honesty.

Perhaps the question was poorly written,

Perhaps ?

but the intent is that we cannot live perfectly under the law. We can sure try, but we cannot achieve the perfection that is required.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Matthew, Catholic chapter five, Protestant verses sixteen to twenty, and forty eight,
as authorized, but not authored, by King James

BTW, it isn’t a seminar question. It is from Leviticus 15:19-33.

There is no question in that portion of Leviticus. Can you imagine the kind of man who would ask the Messiah that question ? Can you see how inappropriate it is on several levels ?

There is no courage involved. I have nothing to hide. I don’t try to shame people into not asking tough questions about my beliefs.

I mean, really? “Would you ask Jesus that question??” LOL

Why would I ask Jesus that question?? He isn’t married and living with a woman who menstruates. But, I bet that he followed that law to the letter when he was living in a home with his mother.

But I would ask him why the Jews denied him when he spent his entire ministry trying to reach them. I would ask him why they continue to deny him even after the loss of their Temple, the Ark, the High Priest, and the subsequent ability to fulfill the Law.

I might ask him, but only after I asked a lot more pressing questions.

So, how do you deal with all the times that “shall” appears in those verses?
