Donald Trump on Tuesday declined to name a potential running mate from among his GOP opponents, but he noted his affection for Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.
"Well, I like like him," Trump said Tuesday on The Laura Ingraham Show." "He's backed everything I've said ...Ted Cruz is now agreeing with me 100 percent."
But the dogged GOP front-runner, still leading the latest polls, was reluctant to go further. "I like to think of victory, I've had a lot of victories, and I like to do victories first, then start thinking about other things," Trump said to Ingraham.
But Trump was clear on who he thought would not be getting the nomination, dismissing the chances of both Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and Jeb Bush.
"Rubio is not going to be the one ⦠it's not going to be Rubio," Trump said, "Rubio is very, very weak on immigration - a member of the Gang of Eight."
Rubio has come under increasing scrutiny of late for his role in the 2013 "Gang of Eight" amnesty push.
On Bush, Trump said that although "you can't watch television without seeing a [Bush] ad, all paid for by special interests and lobbyists," he believes the former governor's campaign is finished.
A national poll of likely GOP primary voters released Monday by UMASS Amherst and YouGov America found Trump at 31 percent, back in the range his previous highs and nine points ahead of second-place Dr. Ben Carson.
Trump hammered President Obama and German Chancellor Angela Merkel for their handling of Syrian refugees and taking a swipe at opponent Marco Rubio for his track record on immigration.
"Look what Merkel has done in Germany, there are going to be riots over there," Trump said.
"Look what Merkel has done in Germany, there are going to be riots over there," Trump said of the German leader for accepting an influx of as many as 800,000 Syrian migrants. "I think this is going to destroy Germany," he said.
"Taking these people is absolute insanity," Trump said, referring to any Western nation that would accept Syrians after revelations that at least one of the Paris attackers had posed as a Syrian refugee.
Trump suggested that President Obama, who faces growing criticism of his refugees plan and his handling of ISIS, sounded during his press conference Monday like he had thrown in the towel.
"He's supposed to be a cheerleader for this country," Trump said. Instead, "he just acts like a defeated man."
A man like Cruz doesn’t have to settle for Trumps leavings.
It was. An early find. Think I saved it on this thread. www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3319258/posts?q=1&;page=1
Some of the links are no longer live. Iirc it was on the family business link.
Quick synopsis:
All gathered family and experts in boardroom and brainstormed all possibility for solution. One by one questions were asked. Then all put in. Dad emphasized they all must listen. After weeding out all but final few Trump made final decision. She explained that what a leader does. Her dad didn’t want any of them labored with guilt if the decision didn’t work out. He would be the only one who had that burden
She and in a later interview her brothers emphasized what a great listener and great questioner questioner.was.
Don JR and Ivanka also interviewed him in a session. Think it was from The Apprentice. They interviewed him. Then he interviewed them. Great relationships
Yes, you’re right...it would be best if Cruz stayed in the Senate, rather than joining the other”flunkies” in a Presidential administration.....so as not to “waste him for no good reason”.
Right. Cruz would agree, I’m sure.

You have just epitomized the absurdity that severe TDS causes.
Probably as good as Mantle and Maris. ( for those that are old enough to remember )
He will toss his votes to whoever the Establishment tells him to. Just watch.
They are not his to “toss”. Voters are not automatons or slaves.

It will be interesting to see who gets picked once the nominee is chosen. Often the pick
is made based upon who can bring the most to the ticket be it overall voters or selected states.
Generally the Presidential election is determined in ten or less states. So it will be an
interesting selection process.
” Voters are not automatons or slaves.”
An argument not in evidence. The RNC backed 2 POTUS candidates in a row who couldn’t possibly win. Democrats would vote for Satan if Trump was the alternative.
On top of being VP he’s also president of the senate. I would love to see Cruz as the Boss of Mitch McConnell, or Dingy Harry.
Who cares?
TRUMP/CRUZ 2016!
I care because I would love to see Bush register a zero. That would be delicious.
Works for me!
I hear ya. :-)
Jane Trump sucks all the air out of every room he is in it’s his nature, so who would want a gig like that?
That thought grasped when the hat from Mr. T’s head was first thrown into the ring. They know & admire one another, have met with the other numerous times, agree with the other’s policies. Sounds like a perfect marriage to me.
Lol.
If you chip in $35 to tedcruz.com, within the next 48 hours, you can be a member of the Cruz Crew and be invited in on a super-special strategy call....where you can be sure to let Cruz know all about that!!
Trump wants to be Cruz’s VP?
“A man like Cruz doesnât have to settle for Trumps leavings.”
This is just what I was talking about yesterday - Cruz fanatics would rather Cruz fail if part of a Trump team.
Yes, being VP then having a great shot at the presidency is ‘leavings’. In what dictionary?
A Senator that can’t get traction with their bills in a RINO senate and is an also-ran for president is destined to obscurity.
But, whatever. Trump can win with someone else and hand them a shot at the presidency. Again, it’s for the good of the country, not the career politician. I think Cruz has the integrity to know that.
