In surprisingly candid remarks to the New York Times, aides to Republican presidential front-runner Ben Carson admitted that the retired neurosurgeon is having trouble grasping foreign policy issues.
Duane R. Clarridge, a former top CIA officer who helped establish the agencyâs Latin American division, was one of those advisors.
âNobody has been able to sit down with him and have him get one iota of intelligent information about the Middle East,â Clarridge told the Times.
âWe need to have a conference call once a week where his guys roll out the subjects they think will be out there, and we can make him smart,â Clarridge said he told Carsonâs top business advisor and close friend Armstrong Williams, who has no official capacity with the campaign.

Not defending Carson but was there any ‘adviser’ named but this guy (who isn’t a top aide) ?
No $#!+ Sherlock.
Most of the time he’s overmedicated and struggling to stay awake.
Well, NO SH*T!!
If Carson just approached foreign policy as a pyramid scheme, he’d probably do okay.
I am starting to seriously wonder if all the stories of his brilliance as a surgeon arent like those of Obama being a constitutional scholar. Did Carson do all there freat feats in the OR or was he assisting someone else of a lighter color that actually did the work?
I am not saying that is the case. But I have one hell of a hard time equating the ‘reputation’ with the reality of the man.
edit
Did Carson do all these famed feats
Affirmative Action, all the way.
I am pretty sure thats the case. If its not, then something pretty significant happened to him between then and now.
My sister has spent a lot of time around doctors and some neurosurgeons. She said every neurosurgeon she ever met was a weirdo.
Brilliant people usually are. But this isn’t a weird thing to me/as I see it. I have known a few scary smart people as well. He looks like a deer in the headlights. Every issue hes presented with ends up in the twilight zone.
It’s like the deaf translator dude at Mandella’s funeral making wild jestures with no idea WTF he’s doing. A normal person wouldn’t put themselves in that situation much less a savant.
The Carson/SDA food pyramid from Loma Linda.
There are many causes for vitamin B12 deficiency.
Surprisingly, two of them are practices often undertaken to improve health:
1. Vegetarian diet
2. weight-loss surgery.

A primary sign of low B12 levels is a constant lack of energy.
Oct 26, 2015 - On Friday in Miami, Trump had ripped Carson for having even less energy than Jeb Bush, whom Trump has called low-energy.
Look up the term idiot savant. Carson is probably brilliant in a specialized skillset that allowed him to be a great neurosurgeon. That doesn’t mean he has common sense or a basic knowledge of anything else.
The only reason he is struggling is because he cannot tell the truth about the way he really feels to the voters, because if he did, they’d can him faster than a NY minute.
He turning out to be a triangulating politician.
If I had spent the past 40 years rewiring brains, rather than posting on FR (LOL), I’d sound like a fish out of water trying to run for President also.
The only question is why did Carson even bother to run?
Use Reagan’s foreign policy, “We win...they lose” Works for me.
That’s ok. He can just put any question he has about it on social media.
