According to the president, the attack against Su-24 plane in Syria goes beyond normal struggle against terrorism, and it is "a stab in Russia's back" delivered by "terrorism accomplices"

SOCHI, November 24. /TASS/. Russia will not tolerate crimes like the attack on the Russian Su-24 fighter jet shot down by Turkish AA-forces in Syrian skies, President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday at a meeting with King of Jordan Abdullah II.

"I understand each country has its own regional interests, and we have always respected that. But we shall never tolerate crimes like today's one," the President said.

He expressed hope "the international community will find the forces to unite in the face of this common evil (terrorism)."

The Russian leader stressed that the Russian Su-24 fighter-bomber was posing no threat to Turkey.

"Anyway, our pilots and jet posed no threat to the Turkish Republic. This is obvious. They were conducting an operation against ISIL," Putin said at the meeting with King Abdallah II of Jordan.

He said the plane was flying above northern Lattakia where militants coming from Russia are concentrated.

"They [the pilots] were fulfilling their task," the president stressed adding that they were delivering preventive air strikes on terrorists who can come back to Russia at any moment.

Putin called the attack a crime and stressed that Russia would not tolerate it. According to the president, the Su-24 plane crash in Syria goes beyond normal struggle against terrorism, and it is "a stab in Russia's back delivered by terrorist accomplices."

Putin will not attack a NATO member, especially Turkey. Lots of bluster but no action.

The big question is, what was the Russian plane doing there in the 1st place? Trying to provoke the Turks?

No question for me. Putin was helping Assad take down his enemies. Doubt it was a provocation Nothing to be gained by it.

That’s debatable. No one is really certain for sure. I am willing to believe is was George Soros who is openly funding Ukraine forces that did it and not Russia.

Not debatable at all. The facts are clear. The Russians shot it down using their missiles.

Soros? Are you f'ing nuts?

Putin seems to be trying to avoid war while the EU seems gung ho for war chaos. Just look how they are letting ISIS come into Europe and cause chaos. They did the same thing in the Ukrine. They were even caught planning it. That video went viral.

The Soviets shot down a Korean airliner (KAL-007) in 1983 killing 269 including a US Congressman. That didn't result in any retaliation even under Reagan.

Nothing is going to happen here save the Russians steering clear of the Turkish border and using diplomatic back channels, ensuring greater coordination with the Turks on Russian flight ops within Syria. After several warnings, the Turks sent Putin a message.

Putin has had Russian aircraft buzzing NATO and civilian passenger planes. They have pushed the envelop when it comes to intruding on our air space.

October 29, 2015 -- The USS Ronald Reagan scrambled its fighter jets earlier this week after two Russian naval reconnaissance aircraft flew within one nautical mile of the U.S. aircraft carrier as it sailed in international waters east of the Korean Peninsula, according to 7th Fleet officials.

In the latest in a series of incidents involving Russian aircraft, two Tupolev Tu-142 Bear aircraft flew as low as 500 feet Tuesday morning near the Reagan, which has been conducting scheduled maneuvers with South Korean navy ships. Four F/A-18 Super Hornets took off from the Reagan’s flight deck in response to the Russian advance, 7th Fleet spokeswoman Lt. Lauren Cole said Thursday.

Who has really been the provocateur? Putin took over the Crimea and has been involved in a Russian instigated civil war in Ukraine.

NATO should have been disbanded at the end of the cold war and replaced with a few key bilateral agreements with Germany and the UK. The fact NATO is on a trigger with such stalwarts as Albania and Turkey makes it very dangerous indeed.

Really? Why do you think countries like Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania were so eager to join NATO? Have the Russians lost their appetite for Empire? How reassuring is it to have a KGB thug in charge of Russia?

Russia can do a great deal—1. Recognize “Kurkistan” as a nation. Arm the Kurds with the best weapons they have. 2. use local “Rebels” to go against the Islamic Trukish Government. 3. Get Iran to help send Turkey into Civil War. 4. Wreck (sabatage) Turkish oil business. 5. focus world attention on the Armeian murders in 1915-19. 6. Have assassins kill the Turkish leader. Lots of ways to hit back at little or no costs.

Any reason why that Turkish F-16 pilot couldn’t force the Russian plane out of Turkish airspace instead if in fact it was in Turkish airspace? Maybe it’s ErdoÄŸan govt who is provoking & emboldened by being in NATO?

Turkis govt has done plenty of kurd killings on Syrian-Turkish border too.
