The proxy battle between Sen. Ted Cruz (R Texas) and Sen. Marco Rubio (R Fla.) in the Republican presidential primary heated up on Tuesday as an Arizona based nonprofit launched a new advertising campaign in Iowa against Cruz.
American Encore has purchased at least $55,000 worth of ad space on broadcast stations in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids, and plans to spend up to $200,000. The ad uses footage from the Nov. 13 terror attacks in Paris to pivot to an attack on Cruz for supporting the USA Freedom Act of 2015, which the ad states was crafted to "weaken Americaâs ability to identify and hunt down terrorists."
The group, previously known as the Center to Protect Patient Rights, is headed by Sean Noble, a former major player in the Koch political universe. Noble was reportedly ejected from the Koch network after a poor electoral showing in 2012 and an involvement in funneling $11 million through his organization into a California ballot initiative campaign that led to a high-profile investigation. There were also concerns that he was diverting large sums to his consulting firm to greatly enrich himself...
While the advertisement does not mention Rubio, Noble is a public supporter of the freshman Florida senator. Rubio is also a co-sponsor of legislation introduced by Sen. Tom Cotton (R Ark.) to delay the USA Freedom Actâs suspension of the National Security Agency's bulk collection of phone metadata...
Rubio's campaign has benefited from the spending of dark money more than any other presidential campaign. On top of the $200,000 in planned spending by American Encore, the nonprofit group Conservative Solutions Project has spent more than $8 million on issue advertising promoting Rubio.

1. Bush is a Bush;
2. Rand Paul endorsing McConnell;
3. Marco sellout Rubio embracing Schumer (kinda like my main man Newt and Pelosi on the couch)
Spend all the Rino money you want Marco-- you're saddled with your running mate, Chuckie.
Cruz is infinitely better than Rubio. No amount of money and advertising will change that. I personally find cute little Rubio a scary choice in the area of foreign affairs. He would be a disaster. I will not vote for that no matter what.
Floridian Rubio going after Texan Curz in Iowa...
Rubio is undoubtedly upset Curz is beating him in Florida.
That Iowa investment is really going to fix that. LOL
Theater of the absurd...
I’ve gotta tell ya, that chart floating around on the forum stating that Rubio is better than Trump is a hoot too.
Open borders bring in the terrorists from Syria Rubio is more solid than Trump?
LOL
Trump or Curz supporter, that’s still a hoot.
Ditto.
The open borders crowd pouring money into their open borders candidate. Just what we need, another big-eared wienie in the White House.
This CAN’T BE TRUE!
Harry Reid told us the Koch Brothers SUPPORTED Ted Cruz!
Just heard Jonah Goldberg on FNC re Trump attacks on Mr. Cruz: Cruz is the guy who swims across the mote with a knife in his teeth and he knows how to fight.
Lolol.
Rubio = Romney 2016
I suppose he could pay them to turn out, but I think that is illegal in Iowa. Maybe a hot meal and a bag of swag?
Cruz is the top free market candidate on the GOP side.
Why would Koch oppose him ?
Rubio = Romney 2016
paul meeting with sharpton. should have been end of discussion that day.
I can only guess they prefer Marco’s amnesty view.
Have we seen the Koch Brother’s view on immigration?
With what I’ve seen of Rubio and his organization, I agree. Unless something big changes there, I think you’re spot on.
If you read carefully, it is not the Koch brothers who are opposed. It is a former Koch operative who got fired by the Koch brothers for diverting their money to his pockets and other shady dealings. IOW, a big time hiring mistake which they corrected.
I read this as NOT directed by the Kochs, but by a former disgraced employee. Am I wrong?
Rubio reeks of dishonesty, betrayal, treason and need for power. He will NEVER get my vote for ANY office.
