Leamer, who has authored four books on the famous Irish-American family, has written a new play based on the tapes, titled Rose, which is set to premiere in New York City on November 29.
In an interview with People, the historian has shared some of the more interesting topics Rose weighed in on during the 40 hours of interview tapes.

Among the hot topics that were deemed too controversial for her memoir was daughter Rosemary's 1941 lobotomy.
The third-eldest Kennedy child, Rosemary was born with cognitive disabilities in 1918, and never progressed beyond the intellectual level of a fourth grader.
While she was docile as an adolescent, Rosemary became prone to outbursts when she hit puberty and started worrying her parents when she started escaping from her boarding school at night.
When she was 23 her father Joe Kennedy secretly took her to get a lobotomy that left her incapacitated for the rest of her life.
When asked about the family tragedy, Rose addressed her daughter's condition but refused to elaborate about the procedure.
'Rosemary's mind is gone completely,' Rose said. 'That was due to an accident, which I don't really discuss.'

Rosemary was a pretty girl with a natural smile. It sounds like she was getting a little out of control as a teen/young adult and her control freak parents couldn’t tolerate that.
She was probably the most normal and least threatening member of that cursed clan.
Cursed they are indeed. But they brought it all on themselves.
Maybe there is a Kennedy or two that’s a decent person...I don’t know. I really enjoyed the Vietnam documentary done by Rory Kennedy; although, I don’t know anything about her personally, but on the on whole, that CLAN is a VERY unlikable bunch to me.
So the parents took the pretty, but slow girl, with a bit of wild streak as puberty set in, and cut away part of her brain. Sounds as sick, albeit a different method, as what the control freak Muslims do to women.
I remember from years ago as a kid (I’m 75) when the adults would talk about Rosemary being as promiscuous as her brothers but her father wouldn’t tolerate that behavior from his daughter. His boys were just being boys and following in their father’s corrupt footsteps. And he was sure proud of them. Nasty, ugly family.
I remember when she died, wondering what was going through the minds of some of the surviving Kennedys.
Joe Kennedy told his children: “What you are doesn’t matter. What matters is what people think you are.” That’s a direct inversion of what Jesus says in the Sermon on the Mount. Meaning that Joe Kennedy was anti-Christ, and the perverted “Catholicism” of the Kennedys is Satanism. As it developed, complete with human sacrifice.
Gloria Swanson wrote of staying at the Kennedys’ home for a month in the late 20’s, while carrying on her affair with Joe. She said that not by a word, a glance, or a raised eyebrow did Rose ever give a hint that she knew what was going on. Swanson said Rose was either the stupidest woman who ever lived, or a better actress than anyone in Hollywood.
Bobby was already pro-abortion in 1964. He and Sargent Shriver organized a meeting at Hyannisport with half-a-dozen liberal theologians, mostly Jesuits, who came up with the classic “personally opposed but” crap.

That’s how I meant its usage. They brought their curse on the whole country. We entered a full-scale social/political collapse in the wake of JFK’s assassination, and have never recovered.
Mother Rose was a lot of things, stupid wasn’t one of them. She was just as calculating and conniving as Joe, Sr. They all probably sold their souls to Satan for power.

Back in the 90s I read a bio on the kennedy’s. Joe was a manwhore. Guess the love of money kept the wife from divorcing him. Too bad just about all the kennedy’s kept the manwhore curse.

My loathing for Rose Kennedy grows with every article I read. She was Joe’s accomplice. Nothing more.
