"But, given the current state of the race and what's likely to occur in the future, I have to admit that what I said before about Cruz was wrong. He can win against Clinton. In fact, he may have a better chance than others currently polling against him because I don't think any of the other candidates could handle Clinton (especially on Benghazi) in a debate as well as Cruz can."

This is what I’ve been telling people for over a year: tho world in2016 will be a completely different world. The goal is to win in THAT world, not the world of 2014 or 2015.

The Blaze will promote moldy cheese against Trump.

Cruz is just a means to an end as far as they are concerned.

He can win against Clinton. In fact, he may have a better chance than others currently polling against him because I don't think any of the other candidates could handle Clinton (especially on Benghazi) in a debate as well as Cruz can.

Steven Crowder also says that he didn't believe Cruz could beat Clinton until he interviewed him and now knows without a doubt that Ted Cruz can beat Clinton decisively.

I’m so sick of political bookies like this writer.

Just decide who represents what you believe in and then support them. To hell with everything else.

You left out the last sentence:

“Of course, Cruz can only beat Hillary Clinton if he wins the Republican nomination,
and at the moment, it’s not clear how likely that possibility is.”

Hillary is a loser and even the Democrats know it. Heck, she lost the crown to an unknown junior Senator from Chicago, who can’t even address a crowd without a teleprompter! Where has this myth of the mighty Hildabeast come from? She is a proven liar, surrounded by scandals, and a likely traitor to this nation. If the GOP can’t find a candidate to beat such a flawed person, it does not deserve any respect.

Any true CONSERVATIVE candidate should win easily against Hillary. You run a moderate, or if Trump were to go third party, say hello to President Clinton.

I’ve been all in for Cruz since his filibuster last year. He is the Ronald Reagan of our times.

In case you didn’t notice, in Reuter’s rolling poll among likely primary GOP voters Trump has 33% and Cruz has 21%.
As opposed to Cruz 11% and Trump 38% GOP voters.

The latest Reuters poll has Cruz “surging” to 11.7% just 26.3 behind Trump so maybe you weren’t wrong. Of course if you don’t like that or the CBS poll shoeing Cruz down nine to Trump in Iowa go to Real Clear Politics they specialize in making dream APPEAR to be true.

Voters who are swayed by the polls are more like gamblers trying to find a payoff. They lack their own moral and political compass so they rely on the populace to direct them. They are swayed by hype and prone to follow the cultural icons, susceptible to the cult of personality.

Conservatives are conservative not because of the media driven culture and trendiness, but they are conservative because of principles that transcend the flavor of the day and the cover of people magazine. Conservatives choose their candidate based on a candidates principles, the candidates history of living those same principles, the candidates character and not on popularity polls like they are choosing a jr. high student council. We don't choose the cool kid, we go for the right one and work to persuade the uninformed and the unprincipled that safety, liberty and integrity matter more than slickness and popularity.

The author is making a stride to leave behind his adolescent desire to be a groupie and becoming a conservative that votes on principle for the best candidate to govern, not the one that is: "like so cool - like he once smiled at me in the hall - like I thought I was gonna die - like he is so dreamy! He has my vote for sure, he is like so awesome!"

Ted Cruz is our best chance to win in 2016 against Hillary. Trump is a Liberal Democrat who is running as a Republican in name only. In time, I believe people will began to examine Trump’s past history and realize he is a Liberal. Trump should be judged by his past actions and beliefs. Cruz is the only true conservative.

If Clinton runs, she will be elected, even if they have to program the voting machines to turn 75% of the R votes to D votes and drop every military ballot into the ocean. We are playing badminton games with people who will kill for what they want.

So, as I became convinced someone had to talk some sense into the well-intentioned but delusional conservative masses, I penned a reasonable critical assessment of Cruz' chances against Clinton in the general election, warning Cruz supporters that he probably couldn't beat Clinton and that any money given to his campaign would likely be wasted.

This is why so-called "Conservatives" are our own worst enemies. Rather than voting conscience, they play the "electability" game and shoot down the best candidates before they even get a hearing.

I have a better idea... how about you vote (and cheer) for the candidate that best reflects your values in the Primary? I'll do the same. We'll end up with candidates that actually reflect our values for once!
