Erdogan in 2012: Brief Airspace Violations Can't Be Pretext for Attack

Turkey has cited airspace violations as its justification for shooting down a Russian Su-24 bomber on Tuesday. But only three years ago, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan specifically stated that such actions should "never be a pretext for an attack."

In response to the downing of a Russian bomber by Turkish fighter jets on Tuesday, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan insisted that the military's actions were justified.

"We did not want this situation to happen, but everybody has to respect Turkey's right to defend its borders," he told reporters, adding that the military's actions were "fully in line with Turkey's rules of engagement."

Yet, three years ago, Erdogan had somewhat different thoughts on the matter. In 2012, Ankara accused Syria of shooting down a Turkish F-4 Phantom. That plane crash-landed in the Mediterranean after veering into Syrian airspace. In response, an outraged Erdogan lambasted the Syrian military for acting in haste

Obama is supporting his Muslim friends, but this is not going to turn out well for his BFF ISIS buddies.

Speaking on Wednesday, the Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov recalled the Turkish president’s own comments, and said it was “hypocritical” of Turkey to use the alleged brief border violation as an excuse for this week’s incident.

Rotten eggs and tomatoes were the fare today at the Turkish Embassy in Moscow.

It would be a good idea for everybody to calm down. Otherwise, we can have a nasty, possibly Biblical conflagration .

I’ve been thinking. I do that sometimes :)

Would Turkey really shoot down a Russian plane without first making sure Obummer “had its back”?

I have never heard obummer say anything along the lines of “that’s what ISIS gets if it continues to act this way”

his snarky comment jabbing at Russia shows he is an idiot. Who gives a @#$@#$ about Turkey, which is letting tens of thousands of jihadis come and go and buying their cheap oil.

Is the MS media reporting ANY of that?

The McCainiac “I’m-stuck-in-the-Cold-War” crowd will ignore it. Erdgodan deliberately murdered a Russian pilot to help his Islamist friends so he can be the Caliph of a reborn Ottoman Empire. That’s the real story.

Oh, well, if I had know that it was just a matter of helping his son develop his own small business, I would have responded differently ;-) Perhaps he can get Obamalini to give his son an SBA loan.

You can bet the now Islamo-Fascist U.S. gubmint was involved in the preplanning of this attack.

A brief, NON-HOSTILE incursion of airspace is not grounds for attack by Turkey. Their (our) F-16's SHOULD HAVE escorted the SU-24's out of their airspace and remember this was a brief incursion through a sliver of Turkey (no pun intended) lasting only a few seconds.

Turkey, with the help of the IFUS gubmint orchestrated this attack and Russia will ensure they (and perhaps 'we') pay for this aggression.

0dunga supports Turkey's "right to defend their airspace" but what does 0dunga do when Russia repeatedly violates OUR airspace?

Turkey HAS VIOLATED GREECE'S AIRSPACE OVER 2,000 TIMES!!!

Why is no one asking WHY 0dunga isn’t worried about ISIS attacking the U.S. We are repeatedly reminded of “No credible threats”??? Hmmmm?? Could it be that ISIS is funded and controlled by 0dunga, AND THEY HAVE AN AGREEMENT?
