Cruz refuses to take legal status off table
WND ^ | 11/30/2015

Ted Cruz on Sunday refused to address how he would handle the millions of undocumented immigrants already living in the country, despite hammering Marco Rubio this weekend for previously supporting a path to citizenship. Cruz refused to take off the table his own support of a potential path to legal status despite his cries against "amnesty."

"Let's demonstrate we can stop illegal immigration, we can protect our national security interests, we can protect our law enforcement interests," Cruz said after a campaign stop in Newton, Iowa. "Then once that's done, we can have a conversation at that point about whatever people remain here illegally."

Cruz has insisted the border must be secured before addressing proposals of how to deal with the millions of undocumented immigrants still living in the United States.

Club for Growth donated $750K. That's a drop in the bucket

That number is from 2013-2014, from what I've seen. Club for Growth is promising millions to Cruz, Rubio et al:

"This marks the first time the influential conservative group has called on its members to write checks to presidential candidates and coincides with a separate effort to curb the progress of celebrity real-estate mogul Donald Trump by drawing attention to its concerns with his past statements.

The five candidates for which the Club will officially bundle campaign contributions are: Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas, Rand Paul of Kentucky and Marco Rubio of Florida; Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker; and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, a leading contender for the nomination who has struggled to gain traction with some conservatives."

* End sanctuary policies, sign Kate's Law, and deport criminal immigrants.

Of course I agree with this, but as others have pointed out, Ted specifically (and only) mentions "criminal immigrants".

He leaves a gaping hole there to allow tens of millions of ordinary illegals wide latitude and possible 'prosecutorial discretion'. Coupled with his public statements about having "conversations", it's troubling, to say the least.

So it comes down to this:

1) Trump wants to kick all illegals out first, and *then* deal with the border.

2) Cruz wants to secure the border first, and *then* deal with the illegals who are here.

Is that your understanding? That Trump wants to kick out all illegals, while leaving the border situation as-is until they’re all out?

I don’t excuse any politician’s inconsistency with regard to illegal immigration - Trump included.

So why can't Ted simply repeat what's in his immigration plan when queried by reporters?

Cruz's plan does NOT call for deportation for all illegals. Cruz is only talking about "criminal" aliens, those who have committed other crimes besides coming in illegally. That's why it's not a contradiction when Cruz tells folks that there will be a "conversation" about what to do with them later; it's perfectly obvious that his plan doesn't deal with the question.

FreeReign has no clue what Cruz's position is and doesn't care one way or the other anyway. All FreeReign wants is to fool you whatever way he can to protect Cruz. It's kind of like how Roman Catholics will still defend the Pope and come up with whatever excuses that will work when he does stupid stuff, like declaring atheists might be getting into heaven.

Are you saying that Ted Cruz is a “stealth Bush”? Even though of all the candidates, Bush hates Cruz the most ( http://www.politico.com/story/2015/10/jeb-bush-george-bush-donors-ted-cruz-214933 )?

Your article is dated Aug. 10th. That's almost 4 months ago.

Cite the donations made by CfG. I haven't seen any.

Cruz has always been for legal status with no pathway to citizenship. However Cruz know that the courts not to mention the Democrats will never allow tens of millions of permeate residents of the USA to be condemned to second class status. Not going to happen. If allowed to stay in the USA they will be given citizenship at some point. What Cruz is selling is a bait and switch.

The only acceptable solution is Trumps', enforce existing immigration law. Build the wall.

You know I can't because you would have already. The only numbers I can find are the ones you posted: from 2014. It's clear, however, that Club for Growth favors Cruz, Bush, Rubio over Donald Trump.

This is very clear:

* I will restore our commitment to enforcement, public safety, and the Rule of Law by rededicating DHS to fully enforcing the law, including through deportations and returns. Cruz

And this is Clear from Trump.

“Defend The Laws And Constitution Of The United States

America will only be great as long as America remains a nation of laws that lives according to the Constitution. No one is above the law. The following steps will return to the American people the safety of their laws, which politicians have stolen from them: “

>> Trump, on the other hand, says what most Americans need and want to hear from a candidate, which is, “The illegals have to go.” <<

.
No, that is not even close to what Trump has said.

Trump has said that the “good ones” (being all those that have jobs) will leave then return with a path to citizenship. (and Trump’s lipstick on their tusche)

That is the primary element of Trump’s immigration plan.

Similar to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce – "Club for Growth" is a Political Action Committee who support: Amnesty, H1B visa growth programs, ObamaCare and the anti-American Trans-Pacific Trade Deal.

Well other then Obamacare Ted is on board with the rest of their agenda. The above certainly explains why Ted was for TPA (when it mattered) before he was against it (when it didn't matter).

That's a strange, backhanded way to frame a question.

OK, let me frame it this way. Assuming any candidate who says he will deport the illegals first and close the borders can be trusted to do what he says. Therefore we can trust Trump to do that. But Cruz who has said he would close the borders first and then deal lawfully with the resident illegals after the borders are secured, cannot be trusted because he will not give us specific details at this time. So the issue is really who do we trust the most, Trump or Cruz.

Most politicians and used car salesmen I don't trust as far as I could throw them, but Cruz I trust because he has a proven conservative track record in the Senate. Trump, not so much, because he has not been an elected official before and a democratic switch-over to boot. If nominated and elected, Trump will be running a nation with a Constitution and a rule of law, not a boardroom where he makes the rules.

I trust Trump says what needs to be said, but Cruz I trust to get done what needs to be done using the rule of law. And that is the difference.

So, let us agree to disagree for now.
