From what he says HE will do that (Constitutionally) will require either Congress or the consent of the courts.

And you think he would have embarked on this path if he didn't already have a plan to coerce such cooperation?

Also we have to think about how this looks from the view point of “dealmaker.” It’s high time that Constitutional advocates start engaging with Trump about this, IMHO. There are “right” ways to do it, which are not guaranteed to succeed, but we might be surprised at the batting average that Trump would get that way. Not every Trump business endeavor succeeded, but many did, and so Trump does not seem to be one to be bent out of shape or daunted from a larger vision, over a failure.

I think the word here might be to “coax” cooperation. Trump is confident that he has this kind of power. And for whatever it is worth, it has at least maintained his empire that way.

The idea of victories is intoxicating and Trump has poured a glass of that out and put it on his table d’hote. A less demoralized America would be more likely to agree in its political organs on larger goals. Again no guarantees, but I have a hunch Trump could do a pretty good pep talk.

You think that is a good thing? Read my about page. I warned back in 2001 that the pattern which I saw developing was ominous. Only a prepared electorate could avoid it. Lucius Cornelius Sulla succeeded for only a short time, but his success decreed the end of the Republic. Hence I adopted the screenname you see today.

Carrie_okie is telling you what to expect in part because he's rightly skeptical, but also because he knows history.

Just as in Rome in 85 BC, a lot of people feel we need a dictator at this point in order to swing the pendulum back. You do want a king (or dictator). But it won't work because the genie released by the last four presidents will be even more released.

The Progs have always wanted power invested in government, and it won't matter whether or not it's Trump or a Dhimi-crat, they will have it. Hence Trump's free media. The Left constantly talks of economic greed when it derides conservatives, but stupid conservatives almost always fail to counter with the Left's greed for power.

Nothing that Trump has said is against using power greedily. Hence, he's the Prog's agent. Conservatives who fail to comprehend this are falling into the Prog trap. They are claiming to hate Trump much like Brer Rabbit begged Brer Fox not to throw him into that briar patch.
