They live in an isolated intensely self absorbed narcissistic universe where they're better than anyone else because the live in "the city" They look down on gun ownership because NYC doesn't let them own guns (without a mountain of onerous paperwork). Actually in NY, North of Westchester County it is not hard to get a pistol permit at all.
