Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz said Monday he does not support banning all Muslims from entering the country, distancing himself from an inflammatory proposal by rival Donald Trump.
Earlier Monday, the billionaire frontrunner for the GOP nomination called for "a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country's representatives can figure out what is going on." Cruz weighed in on the proposal while campaigning in South Carolina, where he was asked if he would support a policy barring Muslims from coming into the United States.
"No, that is not my policy," the Texas senator told reporters.

DING DING!!!
WINNER!!!
You’re not getting what this refers to - no Syrian refugees! None of the Christian ones are leaving the country because the Muslim ones kill them en route. So we won’t take any in.
If we can’t vet a person well enough to know their religion, we don’t need to take anybody in. If someone wants to come here, let them prove their religion - just like someone wanting in Australia has to prove they have needed skills.
As a Christian he should recognize that Islam is not a religion but a death cult. Now he’s pandering to donors. American people, our country, our way of life, our survival should be more important than money.
Pray America wakes !
Trump may have Netanyahuâs cell number).
Most likely does.
I am watching Cruz closely because he and his wife were part of the Bush administration. I have been wondering if he is really a fill in for JEB in case JEB lost. I have been thinking that the Bush machine must have done private polling and seen that JEB lacked the mojo so they went into plan B. Plan B consisted of having several decoy shills to lure the more rebellious voters and divide them up to give JEB a better chance at winning. This was described on the conservative treehouse.
I am getting the feeling that Cruz may have been a backup plan in case JEB did not win then Cruz would get in and carry out all of the Bush plans.
Except you're also eliminating vegans, vegetarians, buddhists, Jews, people who have a heart condition, and people who think drinking grease is gross.
My question to Ted Cruz at this point is what is your plan?
Hmmm, where are your links to Trump supporting single payer healthcare, partial birth abortion, “assualt weapons” ban, emminent domain confiscation, and the Clintons?
“Cruz is my first choice, but Trump is right there as well, with the above caveat of is he telling the truth? Very interesting thus far!”
Do you want the candidate that is saying the right things, and have to hope he means it? (and the one not beholden to donors so he won’t be influenced by them later)
Or the candidate saying half of the right things and have to hope he changes his mind in the other half AND hopes he means it after he flips? And that his donors don’t change his mind for him.
Hmmmmm, the latter is much more risky. Not my choice.
Your idea is kinda a little bit retarded.
Yeah, just saying Trump’s plan is not his isn’t quite enough. He’ll be staying up late tonight;)
Rubio is the establishment backup plan for Bush.
Mark Levin talked about it on the radio this evening.
“None of the Christian ones are leaving the country because the Muslim ones kill them en route. So we wonât take any in.”
The Christians are fearful of the UN-run refugee camps due to the many muslims. They instead find refuge in churches or Christian homes. The UN is the group that picks the refugees that get to leave, so the Christians are off the UN’s radar.
I also read where the UN does the vetting - not the USA. In many areas the UN relies on information provided by The Muslim Brotherhood!
Wait a second. If he said “no Syrian refugees,” that would be a different thing entirely. I absolutely agree.
But he said “No Muslims.” From any country. Besides being politically just stupid to say, it’s laughably unenforceable.
