Breaking his silence on commenting on presidential candidates and making a public statement, House Speaker Paul Ryan strongly condemned Donald Trump's proposed ban on all Muslims from entering the United States, saying that "is not conservatism."
As TruthRevolt reported earlier, Trump advises a "total and complete shutdown" of new Muslim entrants until the country can figure out the exact dangers they pose to the nation's security. Blowback was swift, even among Republicans, as Ryan made clear Tuesday:
Normally, I do not comment on what's going on in the presidential elections. I will take an exception today. This is not conservatism. What was proposed yesterday is not what this party stands for and more importantly, it's not what this country stands for.
Ryan went on to defend those American Muslims who serve in the armed forces -- "dying for this country" -- and those who are serving in the House "everyday to uphold and defend the Constitution."
"Some of our best and biggest allies in this struggle and fight against radical Islamic terror are Muslims," Ryan added. "The vast, vast, vast, vast majority of whom are peaceful."
Ryan stated that these Muslims believe in "pluralism, freedom, democracy, individual rights."
The speaker concluded:
I told our members this morning to always strive to live up to our highest ideals; to uphold those principles in the Constitution on which we swear every two years that we will defend. That's why we are here and that is why we're going to stay here to do the people's House and do the people's work.
Panties-in-a-wad Ryan denounces Trump and then pushes a bill to ban muslims from Syria, Sudan, Iraq, and Iran.
Do they know how stupid their hypocrisy looks, when they turn right around and follow Trump’s lead?
Boner and ryan same sh$$ different bag
Why couldn’t we have had Allen West as Speaker?
Keep growing that bear you idiot
If Allen had been a mooslim, he’d a been a shoo-in.
I don’t know how Ryan got to where he is because he is a dumb dumb. I suspect it is because the power brokers see him as their puppet.
He’s trying to get on a no-fly list. :>)
The GOP is so afraid of their own shadow. This speech reminded me of Ryan in the aftermath of the 47% video coming out. Complete denunciation instead of using it as an opportunity. Ryan is one of the best communicators in our party, but his lesson from 2012 was to act like a wussy, and not present a bold vision. He could easily have done what Cruz did and state this is not his solution, but instead he pulled the ‘this is not what we stand for’ bullcrap.
All talk, no action. Any bill will be vetoed. Same old game...
Ventriloquist Terry Fator won the top prize of $1 million on the reality show ‘America’s Got Talent’. “If I had known a puppet act would take it all, I would have entered myself on the show,” said Speaker of the House Paul Ryan.
“We’ve done hired us an idiot.” (Ryan, that is)
And then he turned around and supported a bill banning muslims.
Somewhere in Wisconsin a village is missing an idiot.
It’s sickening that Ryan is Speaker, especially knowing the GOPe put him there. He’s like a feather in the wind.
Gotta ask, “Did Ryan read somewhere what a Conservative is?” He sure as hell ain’t one to know one.
I've noticed the same thing about House and Senate Republicans.
Reading between the lines...I hope they don’t know where I live.
Trump owns these guys.
LOL
