Three thousand, four hundred: Americans who died by terrorism since 2001.
Three thousand, four hundred: Americans who died by household firearms since five weeks ago.
What's wrong with this picture? Could it be the fact that the country seems more intent on demonizing people seeking refuge from violence than it does on admitting that the biggest problem is homegrown?
I'm tired and heartbroken. It was a hard week last week. For the first time, death by gun is poised to surpass death by automobile as the leading cause for Americans under 25. By some metrics, the number of mass shootings has officially exceeded the number of days in the year â though by any metric, one is too many.
There are too many people who see these awful events unfold and offer only empty words in response â the "thoughts and prayers" of our NRA-funded politicians come to mind. There are also too many people who look at shooting deaths and use them to justify a call for more guns. They believe that more armed citizens mean less crime and less death when the data shows the opposite. It's hard to argue with folks who refuse to acknowledge hard numbers.

She’s unlikely to arouse sexual desire in a man. Rapists will rape almost anybody.
another idiot leftist....
in the queue to be mugged?
"Household firearm"? So these guns were in people's homes and just happened to go off on their own and kill Junior? Or Dad went on a rampage thanks to the availability of a firearm in the house? The bias and stupidity is sickening.
“I don’t think Emily will ever drive a man to rape...”
OMG, now I know why the subject line contained the “Barf Alert” notice.
Add a cup of cocoa and she’s Pajama Boy.
...A good guy with a gun has not stopped any mass shooting in the past 30 years...
Just over 3% of Americans have carry permits. They cant be e everywhere...yet. That number is rapidly increasing due to current events. But, the reality is that in the last 30 years crime has dropped significantly. That gives libs apoplectic fits.
The media is deluded .
Clueless moron!!
“Three thousand, four hundred: Americans who died by household firearms since five weeks ago. “
Where did these stats come from?
What a nerdy looking fellow! Those sorts of guys usually love guns, with all the First Person Shooter games they play!
Well, if the economy was better, maybe more of those under 25 would be able to afford a car!
That says pretty much everything about her that you need to know. Isn't the usual definition of Madison "77 square miles surrounded by reality"?
My favorite part of her silly screed is her “proof” that includes multiple “studies” (one is a “literature review”) by liberals with an agenda that draws the conclusions they are seeking to find data to fit. She wouldn’t know proof if it bit her in the backside.
Journalism has become the equivalent of the beauty pageant interview where contestants spew ridiculous platitudes on how to accomplish world peace and feed all the hungry orphans.
If Emily, daddy’s little princess, fears the Bill of Rights, I recommend she that she move to North Korea or Red China. Nobody is keeping her here.
Well, at least she didn’t use the “Love of guns driven by small penis size” argument. Not that she looks like she has much experience with short arms, either.
I own guns and I ain’t scared at all.
As I like to point out, many of those murders using firearms represent the resolution of business disputes in the recreational pharmaceutical industry.
None of these gun grabbers want to talk about that, nor the demographics/culture predominantly represented on both sides of those murder events. Hint: it isn’t the Southern white males she brings up as a hobgoblin.
