Ted Cruz votes against amendment that would block Donald Trump's proposed religious test for Muslims

Four Republican senators .. including presidential candidate and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.. voted against a resolution that affirmed there would be no religious test for people entering the United States.

The non binding amendment was attached to an unrelated security bill and read that, "It is the sense of the Senate that the United States must not bar individuals from entering into the United States based on their religion, as such action would be contrary to the fundamental principles on which this Nation was founded."

Cruz did not attend the meeting, so it was not immediately clear why he opposed the resolution that was aimed at formally rejecting Donald Trump's widely panned plan to bar Muslims from entering the country.

However, Cruz hasn't joined the chorus of other candidates in criticizing the ban, having said instead that he "[commends] Donald Trump for standing up and focusing America's attention on the need to secure our borders." According to Politico, "Several Democrats grinned visibly when Cruz's proxy vote of 'no' was cast, with one uttering into a hot mic: 'Ohhh yeah.'"

Congress: “Let’s endanger the whole country so we can help the media ‘get’ Trump.”

The wording is very deceptive. It is not that their is a religious test. it is a security test. You cannot hide behind religion in order to sneak in and slaughter people.

Simple. Call the GOP, tell them you will not vote for any republican that supports the infiltration of America by jihadists. And tell them no more money. Ever.

Democrats and GOPe think Americans are suicidal. They will find out they are wrong. Even the gimmee girls and guys vote their asses before their stomachs. A secret ballot is going to reveal the same thing that was revealed in the Kentucky Governors race. And that is that the pollsters and the parties are missing this issue bigtime.

While they’re at it, why don’t they pass an amendment that says they will never outlaw guns or intern US citizens? Bet that would get vetoed.

As an American citizen shouldn't Syed Rizwan Farook's bloody crime be described as one of treason? And shouldn't his family be also tried for treason if they in fact knew/were complicit in the crimes? Perhaps this is why Obama/Jarrett won't allow the expression "at war with ISIS" be used....you must be at 'war' for Farook and wife's murderous crimes to be called treason....I think that is correct......

No terrorist should be convicted and then given the sentence of a life in prison for the remainder of life....the sentence should be an automatic death sentence. Tax payers should not be made to pay for a terrorist's room and board for even a day!

GOP Sens. John Cornyn of Texas, Chuck Grassley of Iowa, Orrin Hatch of Utah, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Mike Lee of Utah, Jeff Flake of Arizona and David Perdue of Georgia supported the amendment. Several Democrats grinned visibly when Cruz's proxy vote of "no" was cast, with one uttering into a hot mic: "Ohhh yeah."

Why give any test at all? How about not letting ANYBODY in from terror producing countries?? An ISIS member can lie and say he is a Christian a Hindu or whatever just as much as use a fake name and say he isn’t a terrorist. The point is, why are we importing ANYBODY from the middle east or anyplace they have terror groups?

Have ‘em all get licked repeatedly by a big dog, get ‘em to chase and catch an bacon greased pig or wild hog, draw a picture of themselves kicking ol’ Mo and eat a BLT or BBQ pork ribs at the very least before we let ‘em in.
