Trump: Ted Cruz 'a maniac' in Senate
Washington Examiner ^ | 12/13/15 | Sarah Westwood

Posted on 12/13/2015 8:16:20 AM PST by Isara

Donald Trump took aim at Sen. Ted Cruz Sunday, launching one of the first of what will likely be a series of attacks against the candidate now leading him in Iowa.

"I don't think he's qualified to be president," Trump said, arguing the Texas Republican's tenure in the Senate makes him too divisive for the job.

Cruz has been "frankly a little bit of a maniac," Trump said in a taped interview on Fox News. "You're never gonna be able to get things done that way."

"You can't walk into the Senate and scream and call people liars and not be able to cajole and get along with people," Trump said. "He'll never be able to get anything done and that's the problem with Ted."

Trump also appeared Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union," touting his business success, his best-selling books and his TV show "The Apprentice."

"You don't make that kind of success without judgement," he added.

Trump was responding to comments from Cruz earlier this week questioning the real estate mogul's judgement. A Bloomberg News/Des Moines Register poll released Saturday showed Cruz opening a 10 point polling lead on Trump in Iowa.

"I would say I have far better judgement than Ted," Trump said. "I'm more capable."

Trump also stood by his controversial proposal to ban Muslims from entering the country on a temporary basis despite condemnation from the leaders of both parties.

"I'm about security. I'm about safety. I'm about borders," he said. "We have to have the right people coming into our country."

Trump defended his Muslim policy by arguing his Muslim friends supported the idea.

"They know they have a problem," he said.

The GOP front-runner blasted President Obama and Hillary Clinton for their reluctance to criticize radical Islam in the wake of the San Bernardino shooting.

"If you don't identify the problem, you're never going to solve the problem," he said.

MSM are rotten. They did not put these words in Trump’s mouth. Trump is a big baby because Cruz just edged ahead of him in Iowa. WAAAAAAAAA!

All those buildings are still standing, and people are benefitting from them for their livelihoods.

All those designers, engineers, and builders wouldn’t have had these projects to work on if Trump did not accomplish his part of the deals.

The network, production company, advertisers, contestants, and fans would have gotten nothing if Trump didn’t get his roll done on The Apprentice.

And I note once again that your silence on Trump’s point that Cruz doesn’t get things done is a tacit admission that you agree with Trump.

“When I’m President I’m going to hire a Constitution guy . . . a real specialist . . . I mean the best, the best of the best, a real Constitution genius with the whole Madison, and all the Hamilton and the whole shebang . . . way better than this Cruz guy or this Scalia guy . . . I know people, you’ll see.”

Insults are never OK.We have a right to expect a certain level of civility from our possible future leaders. The process has devolved to a point that sickens.

Thinking Trump is clever for admitting he sought to buy influence is just asking to be scammed by him themselves. If he cared about conservative issues, he would praise Cruz for fighting the GOPe in the Senate. I’ll never let this one slide. Trump is an overgrown bratty child.

Trump talked about being able to "cajole" people into making deals. He has gotten rich by succeeding at that. Cruz has great red meat credentials but he does come across as abrasive, and not very likeable. He has found that bashing fellow senate republicans may be satisfying to his base at a gut level, but it has not paid off much in results.

Trump is a bluffer. In his own book he admits it. He says he asks for preposterous stuff so that in the end he gets what he wants. When are we to know when he thinks what he is asking is preposterous and when he really means it and will fight for it?

He would not know a true conservative constitutionalist unless he had someone else hold his hand and tell him so. Do we want a President who promises to be a puppet to an unknown source, or do we want a President who understands these things himself?

Vote Cruz, not Trump!!!!

"Crippled reporters, mexican rapists and islamic terrorists" will not vote for you anyway, and will not help you get your agenda enacted in the Senate. Getting along with your colleagues will.

Trump isn’t doing anything to Cruz he hasn’t done to every other GOP challenger who moves into second place. I realize it will make a lot of FReepers angry but it’s his way of campaigning - and winning. It’s worked every time so far and it will probably work on Cruz but we’ll see.

It was bound to happen and truth be told, Cruz opened up this line of attack when questioning Trump’s temperament. Yes he did it in a more mild way but Trump hits back on everyone 10 times as hard as they hit him.

It was nice for all of us to think they had some secret deal to never go after each other. But it’s looking like it’s coming down to those two so all bets are off.

Calling out McConnell was carefully orchestrated. And it worked

What did it accomplish? We still have the Ex-Im bank. And we still have McConnell.

“It is alarming that your TDS has required you to bed down with Mexican rapists and Muslim terrorists.”

I know, right? The doctors told me that one of the worst symptoms of TDS is an almost crippling awareness of reality, as well as the inability to ignore delicious irony.

It’s a struggle, I admit, but as the guys in my weekly support group say, you’ve just got to take it one day at a time.

I’d call that an observation, Cruz’s perception, vs. An attack (also feel he’s absolutely correct). And I’ve had a very busy week, and although I now recall hearing that, it had slipped my mind.

What a silly thing to say. Trump has employed thousands of people building and operating things. Enormous improvement of large sections of land and beautification of former mish-mosh neighborhoods are the result of his work. Those Macy’s ties probably paid for the Veterans Memorial in New York that Trump built because nobody else would even give it a thought. I don’t hear or see Cruz campaigning for the betterment of conditions for our veterans, but Cruz IS worried about not giving enough of our jobs away to foreigners with his outlandish support of HIB.

Both are fighters—we need both—I am sad to see them fighting. Trump has a point—Cruz has managed to get people mad at him—More Obama Style than Reagan. What will Trump do? I don’t know. If there is no—Trump/Cruz there could be Trump/Palin?

He got played by Chris Wallace, and it made me cringe.

Obviously, you aare hung up on Trump putting his name on his building and properties. Perhaps you’ve never heard of Hilton Hotels, Sheraton, and all the rest which carry family names as well as Hersheys, Reeses, and ad infinitum products we enjoy every day. Are the owners hedonistic?

Trump did this to himself and to conservatives who, whether they liked Trump or didn’t like Trump (past tense on purpose), also appreciate the strong support they get from Cruz in the Senate.

Trump thinks he needs no one. He is possibly the most arrogant man in the world — and the touchiest.
