Trump: Ted Cruz 'a maniac' in Senate
Washington Examiner ^ | 12/13/15 | Sarah Westwood

Posted on 12/13/2015 8:16:20 AM PST by Isara

Donald Trump took aim at Sen. Ted Cruz Sunday, launching one of the first of what will likely be a series of attacks against the candidate now leading him in Iowa.

"I don't think he's qualified to be president," Trump said, arguing the Texas Republican's tenure in the Senate makes him too divisive for the job.

Cruz has been "frankly a little bit of a maniac," Trump said in a taped interview on Fox News. "You're never gonna be able to get things done that way."

"You can't walk into the Senate and scream and call people liars and not be able to cajole and get along with people," Trump said. "He'll never be able to get anything done and that's the problem with Ted."

Trump also appeared Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union," touting his business success, his best-selling books and his TV show "The Apprentice."

"You don't make that kind of success without judgement," he added.

Trump was responding to comments from Cruz earlier this week questioning the real estate mogul's judgement. A Bloomberg News/Des Moines Register poll released Saturday showed Cruz opening a 10 point polling lead on Trump in Iowa.

"I would say I have far better judgement than Ted," Trump said. "I'm more capable."

Trump also stood by his controversial proposal to ban Muslims from entering the country on a temporary basis despite condemnation from the leaders of both parties.

"I'm about security. I'm about safety. I'm about borders," he said. "We have to have the right people coming into our country."

Trump defended his Muslim policy by arguing his Muslim friends supported the idea.

"They know they have a problem," he said.

The GOP front-runner blasted President Obama and Hillary Clinton for their reluctance to criticize radical Islam in the wake of the San Bernardino shooting.

"If you don't identify the problem, you're never going to solve the problem," he said.

“This is a foolish statement.”

Why? That is precisely what Cruz said about Trump and Carson.

I see this as well.

He will complain about it, but the press will easily be able to ignore him there as well. Sanders is a great example of how well the press can ignore you if they want.

I’ve said before that if he is the actual nominee, it will 6 months of posts of FR complaining about press suppression and how unfair they are to him while Hillary is able to walk around without fear.

Keep it honest he did not bash Cruz as an Evangelical. He did however bash him here in a totally uncalled for set of comments. This will hurt Trump more than Cruz and sounds down right mean.

If Cruz is the nominee, you will see the Christian vote come out in record numbers.

He would crush Hillary.

Cruz has been "frankly a little bit of a maniac," Trump said in a taped interview on Fox News. "You're never gonna be able to get things done that way."

I didn't see the video, but I can see Trump saying this in a mischievous and ironic way because he himself is quite the maniac when setting the stage for what he wants, and he often gets great things done as a result. In other words, Trump is able to be a maniac AND get things done.

But looking at Cruz's inability to get many things done in the Senate at least backs up what Trump is saying about Cruz. Trump may be saying Cruz is a maniac, but his main point, or verbal kill shot, is that Cruz has a weak record of getting things done, especially if you look at his work in the Senate.

The notion that he is a "smart businessman" is a myth.

If he had just put his large inheritance into an S&P 500 index fund instead of doing hundreds of hit or miss transactions, he'd be at least twice as wealthy as he is.

Warren Buffett doesn't need to do a reality show or hawk neckties at Macy's.

I was thinking you were always a Cruz supporter. That’s OK I don’t hate Cruz but I do see him clearly. He has some issues that are a problem.

Cruz is the 4th largest recipient of Wall Street money of all the candidates. I understand that he has to raise money to run but he will also have to bend a knee to the cheap labor express. Count on it.

Trump is the only person who will be free to do what he says he will do. He has to actually win in order to take office. So its about time he got around to scrutinizing Ted Cruz. Ted is competition its politics.

That song occurred to me too.
Cruz would score by opening his next rally with it.

Cruz hesitates and calculates. Look at his hesitant careful reaction in the media to Trump’s call for a temporary ban on muslim immigration. Look at his hesitation and evasiveness when megyn kelly asked him about the outed tape of him with his donor bosses.

Yes, he is fearless most of the times, but not always.

Pretty obvious that Trump wanted/wants to build something lasting, something that benefits people rather than just accumulate wealth. Big difference in the motivation of the two men, isn’t there?

“Oh you have nothing to worry about because Cruz is fearless.”

Fearless as in backing away from a ban on Muslim terrorists. In case you haven’t noticed, Muslim terrorists are infiltrating into the United State under guise of refugee status or with fake passports.

Cruz just decided to jeopardize Americans in order to not have heat directed his way.

I just noticed that Kudlow over at National Review has come out for a ban.
