Las Vegas Review-Journal Removes Questions About Newspaper’s New Mystery Owner
The Huffington Post ^ | December 12 2015 | Micael Calderone

Several media watchers, including NYU professor Jay Rosen, questioned the timing of the purchase given that it's election season.

"One of the first thoughts I had was: Nevada is an early primary state. The Review-Journal is the largest newspaper in the state. Was it sold to a player in that event, or people who want to be players?" Rosen asked. "That slightly conspiratorial thought may be way off base. Of course, there is no way to know as long as the ownership remains hidden. That's the point."

Interesting story, especially in light of Free Republic's past dealings with the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Ownership could actually be a big game changer, one way or the other. As many know, I wrote Harry Reid’s only biography, it is filled with evidence of bribery and election fraud. It has also been blackballed by local media.

I can now give Freepers a wink wink that he Reid story is finally heating up. News breaking in a couple months.

Daxton, stopped by your site. Very impressive.

I can’t think of anyone better to ask. Do you know who roughed up Reid?

Given that Reid didn’t sue the people who reported it was his brother, I’d say it’s been reported already.

“Do you know who roughed up Reid?”

My insider didn’t have an answer. But no one thinks it was an exercise band.

My conjecture is that his drunk brother Larry, who was living in a bungalow on Harry’s Searchlight property, found out he was getting displaced because Harry sold out to a gold mining interest. A couple weeks later, Larry is picked up drunk driving and essentially assaults an LEO.

By the way, the purchaser of Harry’s 250 acres I think is not gold miners, but Detroit mob using that as a front. But we shall see.

Isn't this the same paper that was in bed with some law firm and suing anyone and everyone that even quoted or linked to their stories? They were actually selling rights to stories to a law practice who would then turn and sue everyone they could, trying to extort money.

Is this the same paper?

If The Huffington Post and Micael Calderone give a rat’s ass can we assume the new owner might be conservative?

Because they sure as hell wouldn’t care if the new owner was one more liberal in a sea of liberal owners.

They might assume it’s a conservative but no one knows yet. Whoever it was saw this declining paper as being worth 38 million more than it sold for 7 months ago. I see no reason as likely as a way to try to swing Nevada (an early primary state) one way or the other in the primary. Either that or they’re stupid and people with that kind of money rarely are unless they’re in government.
