People are calling Sam's Club CEO 'racist' after she gave an interview about diversity
Business Insider ^ | 14 Dec 2015 | Hayley Peterson

Sam's Club CEO Rosalind Brewer is being accused of discriminating against white men following a CNN interview where she discussed the importance of workforce diversity.

Brewer was asked by the interviewer how she promotes diversity within her company.

"It has to start with top leadership," Brewer said. "My executive team is very diverse and I make that a priority. I demand it within my team."

She said she mentors women inside and outside of her company, as well, and also encourages Sam's Club's partners to hire a more diverse workforce.

Now here's the comment that ignited the uproar. Brewer said:

"Just today we met with a supplier and the entire other side of the table was all Caucasian males. That was interesting. I decided not to talk about it directly with [the supplier's] folks in the room because there were actually no female, like, levels down. So I'm going to place a call to him."

Critics are claiming that Brewer's remarks are evidence that she advocates against employing and hiring white men — even though four of the eight people on her executive team are white men. Some customers are now accusing Brewer of being "racist" toward white men and are threatening to boycott Sam's Club.

The interview has since been shared widely by right-wing sites, including RedState, BizPac Review, and TeaParty.org, prompting some customers to criticize the company online.

"As a white male I'm deeply offended by the remarks of your employee," one person wrote on Sam's Club's Facebook page. "We will not be patronizing Sam's Club until this is corrected."

So, on a conservative forum, chicken strips for dogs are more important than the tiny political act of a boycott.

I guess most people have never had to try and stuff a good friends intestines back into what was left of his abdominal cavity while watching him die. Die, fighting for freedom. Died leaving behind a wife and baby.

The four horsemen are coming and people in America are worried about football teams and dogs.

I’m being hard on you. You are probably a very nice woman. But if we all do not start sacrificing - we are going to be sacrificed.

I didn’t renew the membership, my husband did.

Hope you feel better after unloading on me. It sounds like you have some heavy burdens.

And, I do fight the good fight.

We rescue older dogs from the shelters who have been turned in by owners who are tired of them, didn’t think they would live that long or just didn’t want them anymore.

We feed them premium dog food and treats and other than shots, checkups and bloodwork, have been relatively lucky with their health. I will go to Costco tomorrow. Thanks for the tip.

Years ago I met with a big bank that wanted our business (actually, they wanted banking fees from us); they sent two old white guys with a young black man to make their pitch. One of the old guys introduced the young man as the one that would be working with our accounts, and as we proceeded to describe our configuration any questions I put to the young man was handled by one of the two white guys.

Needless to say, we didn’t do business with them; I can’t have the financial version of Obama on the other end of the phone line when we have issues. The young token knew nothing that I could discern, and was “playing office” with the help of two mentors on their way to retirement. I pitied those two old guys; what a way to end your careers.

Since then many of the Anglo men I worked with at various financial institutions have been replaced by young foreigners (mainly Asians); I guess the whole experiment with blacks didn’t work out. Unlike HR or other “soft areas”, financial and the related tech aspects are areas where you can’t “fake it”.

No problem. I haven’t done Sam’s in years. Absolutely no reason to go there.

I work with plenty of people with whom she’d be comfortable, and I’d love to hear her justify the number of blacks with college degrees that can barely read. It is one thing to quietly cash your checks for being the visible token; if this idiot thinks she’ll set policy for anything other than a corner drug-peddling scheme she’s delusional. Are only white CEOs accountable to shareholders?

“As a white male I’m deeply offended by the remarks of your employee...We will not be patronizing Sam’s Club until this is corrected.”

As long as white guys are a mainstay of the workforce (which will continue even after demographic changes make us minorities, as nobody is really training other workers to do anything besides play token), then messing with the people earning the money is a foolish, short-sighted policy.

Are only white CEOs accountable to shareholders?

It seems that white men just aren't as qualified for the important top CEO spots as they once were.

They are lucky to find part time jobs playing the role of the incompetent bumbling white guy in TV commercials these days.

...Diversity is an anti-religion, and anti-ideology, a nepotism which promotes everything except one’s own family.

Diversity therefore equals the destruction of any and all religions and of all positive ideologies.

Because Diversity can only be destructive: whatever IS is insufficiently or inexactly diverse.
Whatever IS must therefore be destroyed in order to make it MORE Diverse.
And there is no conceivable or measurable end to it. Yesterday’s Diversity is today’s intolerable lack of Diversity.

Diversity is the destruction of Good; and it is the destruction of all types of Good - however defined. All are chewed up and spat out by Diversity.

Diversity is the promotion of chaos by the destruction of Good; and then there-naming of chaos as Good.

Too funny! Well, plenty of us are employed in the STEM fields, which is why they are being targeted to add the requisite number of unqualified “preferred minorities” to their payrolls.

Could you imagine working under this hate-filled race warrior? Could you imagine being the white guys that actually do the work for which she is credited? When I was younger I thought prestige came from titles and money; now that I’ve been working for decades I realize that prestige at work means you never interact with people like this woman at your job...

So, if the SCOTUS strikes down affirmative action . . . these yahoos are just prescribing a work around. The de facto law now anyway is reverse discrimination.

Poor Pete Rose . . . he is just a victim of being too white in a #BLM world.

Don’t tear down this beacon of black achievement; she earned her spot in the same manner as did our esteemed first Mulatto president: Clean (no STDs/drug habit?), and can speak without a negro accent (unless she chooses to).

It is illegal now to expect anything more from our “preferred minorities”; any meeting these criteria are qualified to be “president of the universe”...

“Besides, there’s a new Costco in town I want to check out.”

I’ve shopped at both for decades, though mostly at Costco for the past many years, and Costco carries higher quality merchandise. Basically, Costco meat quality simply can’t be beat by any other mainstream chain grocery store.

Many years ago, Sam’s was essentially forced to revamp itself and tried to make itself into an almost-Costco, but Costco is still the real deal.

“I was annoyed but, he told me that Sam’s Club is the only place he can buy dried chicken strips made in the USA for our dogs.”

They may be made in the U.S.A. but the chances are REALLY good that they are still importing the ingredients from China. Be sure to CAREFULLY read every word printed on the package and then do research online as well.

I’ve yet to see products like these in big box stores whose ingredients weren’t imported from China.

“I’ve never been into a Costco. There is a new one in my town and I thought about checking it out. Not sure I will.”

Costco is awesome. No major food store chain carries better meat.

Yep. Looks like some folks are irked or angry with her. See for yourself, if you can do so before the following is corrected.

Read post #5...besides...I hate it when corporate America takes a Christmas hymn or carol - in this current ad season the hymn “God rest ye merry gentleman”...a worship song meant to glorify Christ’s birth...then strip it of its meaning by replacing it with meaningless ad garbage meant to sell themselves...enough is enough, Walmart! People need to call Walmart and complain and boycott it!
