A Virginia school district is defending a classroom assignment that required students to practice calligraphy by writing the Muslim statement of faith, "There is no god but Allah. Muhammad is the messenger of Allah."
Female students at Riverheads High School in Staunton, Virginia, were also invited to wear Muslim clothing -- a story first reported by The Schilling Show.
"Neither these lessons, nor any other lesson in the world geography course, are an attempt at indoctrination to Islam or any other religion, or a request for students to renounce their own faith or profess any belief," the district said in a statement provided to Fox News.
The Muslim-friendly calligraphy assignment took place in a world geography class. The teacher had the kids copy the Muslim statement of faith, also known as the shahada.
Parents told The Schilling Show that their children were not given the translation of what they were writing.
In other words, there were more than likely a few Christian teenagers in that room who had no idea they were writing, "There is no god but Allah."
But the school district doesn't seem to think that's a problem.
"The statement presented as an example of the calligraphy was not translated for students, nor were students asked to translate it, recite it or otherwise adopt or pronounce it as a personal belief," the district stated.
They said it was all about the art--not about the theology.
"They were simply asked to attempt to artistically render written Arabic in order to understand its artistic complexity," they stated.
And out of sheer coincidence -- out of all the Arabic words and phrases the teacher could have selected, she picked the Islamic statement of faith?

Should be on a billboard on every major highway and every plane with a sign at the beach, etc.

That’s funny. When looking up a story on Google News, I’ll actually add “Fox” so I may not have to go to ABC, CNN or the Huffington Post to find out what’s going on.
Anyone who sends their kid(s) to the government to be educated is an UNFIT parent. Period!
Islam is the only religion that liberals respect.
What’s wrong with those kids, they are old enough to know better and they could REFUSE to do these assignments. The parents need to advice them not to participate.

It is explicitly a policy, they are following the playbook of the homos to gain sympathy from schoolkids, knowing that those schoolkids will be voting in elections a few years from now.
Just like the homos got their “Day of Silence” pushed in schools to glorify homosexuality, the Muslims are pushing a “Walk a Mile in Her Hijab” day now to glorify Islam. It happened last week, so I am sure this teacher was participating in that when all of this happened.
This is far from the first time we’ve seen American public school students manipulated into reciting or writing the Islamic Shahadah, or statement of faith. One who utters the Shahadah is considered to have converted to Islam.
If you follow the money far enough you can be damn sure this goes all the way back to Saudi Arabia. The House of Saud long ago decided to turn America into an Islamic country. They have found that many Americans, especially our politicians, are more than happy to sell them the rope to hang ourselves with.
So, there now exists a handwritten declaration by each student in that class of his muslim faith. And that is about all it takes to be considered a muslim. I shudder for these students if Islam becomes the extremely powerful force here as it is becoming in Europe. These students could potentially face death if they do not keep sharia law in that happenstance. There is no freedom of conscience or religion under Islam.

It was in Arabic. The kids were converting to Islam without even being aware of what they were doing. If they now go to church on Sunday then they will be considered apostates and subject to Shariah death penalty.

When a public school starts requiring girls to wear the burka, I’m sure the aclu & obama will denounce it. Its the next step in muslim pandering by public schools
