Last night, Trump said:
"When you had the World Trade Center go, people were put into planes that were friends, family, girlfriends, and they were put into planes and they were sent back, for the most part, to Saudi Arabia.They knew what was going on. They went home and they wanted to watch their boyfriends on television. I would be very, very firm with families. Frankly, that will make people think because they may not care much about their lives, but they do care, believe it or not, about their families' lives."
I saw Megyn Kelly tell Frank Luntz that the 9/11 Commission Head (I thought she said "head") was reached and denied that this happened, saying, "the hijackers were not married."
The point Trump was making was akin to his seeing celebrations in Jersey City after 9/11. He was saying that friends and family of the hijackers were sent home to the Middle East BEFORE the attack on 9/11 and that those friends and family knew the attacks were coming.
It was at this point that Jeb abruptly jumped in to cut Trump off.
Unless I am mistaken or misreading this comment, this is a major statement and will become big news.
Everyone knows that Bin Laden family members were sent home after the flight suspension ended. But no one, to my knowledge, has ever indicated that there were such flights before.
I don't think Trump would introduce this into a debate unless he had obtained this information from a solid source.
Many (most?) of them lived in the Boston area, if I recall correctly. That was such a confusing time, and I can’t recall exactly when the Bin Laden family members left for the middles east, but it does seem to me that it was a controversy at the time. Interesting article here:
It was widely reported that the Gov't quietly tried to whisk osama bin laden's family out of the US and Canada. I believe they were driven to Canada and flew out from there.
I remember news articles about Saudi nationals being able to fly home during the 4-day suspension of air travel right after 9-11.
I also remember thinking that I would have kept them here until we had sorted out who was involved and who wasn’t.
Like DT, I believed and still do that some Saudis in the US and were at least tacitly complicit in the attacks. And, there were many abroad who were actively involved. Most of whom escaped punishment of any kind.
But Trump is saying here that these families and others connected left the country before 9/11.

Let your brother, cousin or uncle commit something like 9/11.
LEO’s wouldn’t be escorting you out of the country for your safety. They’d pay you a visit and tell you to stick around and ‘don’t leave’, while they made sure you weren’t involved.

They weren’t sent home as much as they were evacuated, during the time that the rest of the U.S. Aviation sector was grounded.
I think it was already established that after the shutdown there were flights out of the US. No surprise there. Nor would it be surprising that others left before hand. What has not been addressed is Saudi involvement. At some point, despite being Bush family allies, the Saudis need to be held accountable for their direct and indirect part in terrorism.

It is well known how tight the Bushes in fact all administrations have been with the Saudi royal family. Even now they are being allowed to open their wells full throttle to depress the price of oil to a level that is very harmful to domestic production. Given that Bin Laden was a ember of that family, it is likely that the Saudis wanted to stay clear of any charge of being involved. That they may have know that he and Al lQaeda were planning such an operation.without knowing the details.
Yeah, Trump’s sketchy on the details, but he is 100% correct in pointing out that the Saudis were eyeball deep in the 9/11 attacks and everything that happened afterward, but the Bush Administration (and then Obama) just let them skate away from it, like nothing had happened.
I recall reports in the early years after 9/11 that people had been sent home to Saudi Arabia before the attack, as well as others afterward. I, too, remember reading reports of people from New Jersey celebrating, as well as overseas.

Yeah, and that’s why part of the 9/11 Commission Report was either censored or heavily edited, to protect the complicit Saudis.

You are 100% right....Trump was right on the money!!! Megyn Kelly is a bit light on her facts concerning this info & the info regarding Muslims rejoicing in New Jersey on 9/11/2001!!!! Both these events happened!!!

My sister was working as a stewardess on Paxton Communications’ private jet; a family of the house of Saud flew out of Miami to Riyadh several days after the grounding of all flights. I never believed the stories I heard about saudis flying home until I spoke with her about this just a few months ago. They made her wear a hijab and she and the rest of the flight couldn’t leave the plane, weren’t allowed to touch ground except to let the passengers out.
True story.
