TED CRUZ MAKES HUGE LEAP, now just FOUR points away from Trump in new poll!!!

Ted Cruz is going to wake up to an early Christmas gift from the polling elves at Quinnipiac University, as their new results show him making a YUGE leap in popularity to gain on the front-runner Trump. For his part, he increased by one point as well.

Donald Trump’s perch atop the 2016 presidential polls is looking a little shakier this morning.

In the latest Quinnipiac University national survey released Tuesday, Trump leads Texas Sen. Ted Cruz by just four percentage points.

Trump’s share remained essentially unchanged from the university’s last poll, ticking up one point to 28 percent. Cruz, meanwhile, shot up eight percentage points to 24 percent.

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio finished third with 12 percent, a five-point drop since late November, while retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson continued his downward spiral with 10 percent, a six-point hit in the same period. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie registered 6 percent, his highest level of support in a telephone poll since late May. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush took 4 percent, while all other candidates earned 2 percent or less and 8 percent remained undecided. Of those who named a candidate, 58 percent of Republican voters said they might change their mind before voting in their state’s primary.

Cruz commanded pluralities of support over Trump among those describing themselves as members of the tea party (38 percent to 27 percent) and white, born-again Evangelical Christians (33 percent to 22 percent). Cruz also led Trump among very conservative supporters (38 percent to 27 percent), while Trump led at least nominally in every other demographic polled.

But it’s close. Among men, for example, Cruz trails Trump 30 percent to 29 percent, while among those with a college degree, he trails 24 percent to 21 percent.

In other results, it looks like Cruz does best in a head-to-head competition with Hillary, but he finishes even:

And you say this by which line of reasoning?

Don’t want to talk about all those other polls. Only the one that supports your own position is the most accurate one.

My gosh, Fox News cant wait to quote the one poll every 15 minutes with total disregard for all the other ones including their own.

...."These personal attacks may bolster his base, but they limit his appeal to the supporters of the conservative candidates that he insults on a personal level"......

The longer he runs the more "raw" he gets.....there's a reason advisers keep telling him to reel it in, I not convinced that he can...his hyper sensitivity gets in the way, which most with Trumps personality have in abundance but learned to control..

Not really. Cruz is leading when voters first and second choices are combined, because Trump has alienated the supporters of other candidates. Cruz will gain support as the other candidates drop out.

Possibly in the primary...He doesn't stand a chance in the General...

FWIW, he consistently out polls Trump against Hillary.

Trump has the highest negatives among Republican contenders, by far.

It’s a nice poll...and I am certain Ted is gaining.

But I tend to throw out the outliers. A couple of polls have Trump at 40 or 41. A couple have him in the high 20’s.

So he’s probably in the mid 30’s. And Cruz is probably in the low 20’s, with a bullet.

My guess is there’s a 12 to 15 point spread right now. Not bad considering Trump’s YUUUGE edge in free media and the fact that Cruz started from about 2 or 3 percent.

With Ted steadily gaining and lots of money he’s ready to strategically deploy, I love where he’s sitting. I saw an article recently describing in depth how his team’s organization is using psychographic profiles to an unprecedented extent and his campaign execution has been nearly flawless.

If he wins Iowa the whole game changes.

Hank

I'll be surprised if Hillary can even pull off a Presidential debate.....her health issues may not co-operate sufficient to do so. But you can be sure the media moderators will treat her with kid gloves....I think she's much more fragile than even what is being covered up....and has been for quite awhile.

Nothing is going to change. You heard it here first. Trump CAN change things (not sure that he would but he’s really the only one who is different and will do things differently). If anyone other than Trump gets elected I’m on record as saying nothing will change. If Trump gets elected he has the capacity to change things but even that is no guarantee. The situation is bad

Number ONLY is the where Cruz is advancing to.

As the also-rans drop out, their support swings steadily to Cruz, avoiding Trump completely.

Everybody knows Cruz is going to handle himself very well against Trump....especially on issues and what he’s actually done fighting these........ The question will be if Trump can offer substantial evidence of what he’s actually done on these issues....or even give moderate details of what he wants to do other than say he’s not telling.

The Media launched Trump, and have solidly supported him from day one.

They have kept his name and face plastered on the screens by injecting him into stories that were about other candidates, and ignoring the subject candidate completely in their programs and articles.

That is massive support that should require them to register as Trump PACs.

...”The distinctions are like night and day”.....

Yes indeed. ...even so the public seems to be on the same bridge that they jumped on with Obama. They bask in the talk and the “flavor” of Trump. Cruz is solid in what he believes is good and right for this country....I’m not convinced Trump will do what he says....in fact I believe he would make many compromises the people will not be at all happy about.

The MSM are totally supporting Trump, and attempting to ignore Cruz.

Trump is their guy, as long as they see him blocking Cruz.

If Trump were to get elected, unions would take over total control of the nation’s work force.

All those Union goons that go to Trump’s rallies will be on the streets with clubs enforcing the take-over.
