How many pairs of shoes do you really need, ladies?
Gee, no kidding. The number of shoes is certainly a factor, but so is just about every clothes item, like underwear and dresses. My wife and daughter must have about 12 different brands of shampoo floating around the house at any given time. My son and I both stuck to one. And don’t even get me started on the female insistence that you can’t wear the same dress to a party twice. I have never heard a man (straight or otherwise) say the same thing about a suit or even a tux.
In the latter end of middle age, my wife has entered a new phase where she stocks up on household supplies for years at a time. We now have about 5 years worth of batteries, canned goods, chocolate, etc. I let her buy the ammo too.

BINGO! And there you have the rest of the story.
For all the time women spend shopping, it seems like they don't spend a lot of time actually doing research on many of the products they buy. That's why you hear so many conversations among your female family members or associates at work about what they bought "on sale for a great price." I don't care if that stupid handbag cost you $200 or $39.95. There are only two questions any normal man would ask:
1. Do I need a handbag?
2. Is it worth the $X price someone is charging for it?
If the answer to either question is "No," then we don't buy it. In fact, if the answer to the first question is "No," we never even get around to asking the second one.
This is why salesmen at car dealerships would always prefer to sell a car directly to a woman rather than deal with her husband, boyfriend, etc.

I refurbish and rent mobile homes. They’re nice when I’m done with them and they are all in a rural county and most are on wooded acreage, but they are in the lower tier of the rental market. Many of the people I rent to are on some form of assistance. Although most are employed and what you’d call lower middle class.
Numerous times I’ve had to unpack a closet or an entire room to do a repair. I’m astonished by how much STUFF these people have. In every case so far the stuff has been nice clothing or shoes or electronics. They own way more stuff than I do and they keep on buying more. To access a water heater I had to unpack some fifty pairs of ladies shoes, leather coats and vests, and very attractive party dresses. A young mother complained of mold so I unpacked crate after crate of new baby clothes from a closet. The mold problem was because she bought them, washed them, partially dried them, and then stuffed them into a closet and in crates in the room with no spaces for air circulation. Another couple had a room filled with cases of beer. (That one pissed me off as they were using their EBT cards to buy meat, selling the meat and buying beer.)
My point is that people, in this case just women, don’t have to buy the overpriced products or too many of a thing. They do it of their own free will. Are we supposed to feel guilty because other people buy more than they need?
Clearly government should intervene to keep incompetent women out of the stores.
There is an. “Acquisition” gene attached to the X-chromosome.
Alone, it causes the “buying” action.
Combined with another “Acquisition” gene, it causes the “shopping” action.
See, it can be explained genetically!
I was raised by parents who grew up during the Great Depression, so they were thrifty, and I adopted many of their ways. It's all right to spend a little more on a few extravagances, but I can't see squandering money on something just because society says you have to be a certain kind of “beautiful” or you have to look young in order to be accepted. If society doesn't like the way I look, **** ‘em.
I feel your pain since I am a woman. The increase in cost is due to the constantly changing fashion trends. It would be wonderful to find a brand that didn't change from year to year. Sometimes when I find a very comfortable shoe or item of clothing, I stock up because next year it won't be there.
For example, two years ago Fruit of the Loom made a terrific long underwear tee. The next year, the fabric and cut of the arms changed slightly and it was very uncomfortable. I gave these to my daughter. Her arms are very thin.
Shoes are another item. My husband buys a pair of shoes and ten years later he can get the same brand and style.
Regarding children's clothing:
The major cost is not the fabric. It is the labor and the constantly changing styles.
And, for every one of you, there are 20 women who own 30 pairs of shoes and enough skin creams to tan an elephant hide.
Good for her. I'm still waiting for that switch to go off in my wife's head. Of course, we would have no place to store it all.
Hm???......Very good point! I did not think of that added cost.
And, as for the jeans, the manufacturer knows that your husband doesn’t care his his jeans have a baggy butt. But women will not buy stuff that makes them look less than they imagine they should look.
Well, they wanted equality now are paying the price.
Once ‘they’ got in the ‘money making business’ businesses went out of their way to get their ‘piece of the pie’.
Remember when one of the ‘drawbacks’ for women was the time off for pregnancy and immediately thereafter.
That problem was solved in typical GOVERNMENT fashion.
Instead of ‘penalizing’ the woman for the child, give the male 16 weeks or whatever it is to ‘level the playing field’.
Even baseball players take time off for the birth. When my kids were born WE ( the main(?) cause of the problem) were barely allowed to step foot in the hospital, much less in the Delivery room......
Before long the non childbearing types will demand a FREE time off period just because ‘they’ get it.
And the military not only has the child bearers in their ranks, I can picture deployments being ‘penalized’ as the Military types will be wanting to jump on that child bearing free leave program.
Brings to mind the line in that old C&W song

With us ‘producers slowly falling by the wayside, the River of MONEY will soon dry up.
Had a Conservative (well R) type try to convince me the 15 buck min wage was a GOOD THING because we had to ‘do something’. I asked him the stale (Why not 20 or 30 or 100) got the ‘look’ and tossed in the if minimum goes to 15 the rest will have to raise as prices will raise to capture the 15 buck guys/gals, or maybe we can give them some more free schooling as apparently 12 years isn’t enough for a lot of people any more...AND not necessarily the students fault as the Admins have to put all the ‘feel good crap in the curriculum’
Yeah, on one hand, I don’t mind her getting into “prepping”. On the other hand, she is kinda overdoing it.

It’s true, this is just right in front of our eyes as proof.
Take Walmart for example. Wife and I were there yesterday. She had to wait in line to get a “woman only” shopping cart. Then as we walked down the food lanes, women’s bread was at least twice as high. Got to the drinks section, Coke For Women was 50 cents higher per can.
My car needs an oil change, we got to the automotive section men’s oil was sold out. The department manager was nice enough to mark down a jug of women’s oil so I could afford it.
7 percent more for toys and accessories - then buy boy's toys, we're all the same, right?
4 percent more for children's clothing - fancy stuff costs more
8 percent more for adult clothing - see above
13 percent more for personal care products - quit buying fakeup that's bad for your skin then you'll need LESS skincare products
