When Obama told Hagel to âstand downâ after Assadâs chemical attack that killed hundreds of civilians â ignoring the presidentâs own red line in the sand â Hagel was stunned, and believes that Obamaâs decision dealt a severe blow to the credibility of both the White House and the United States.

I’ll bet you that not one single “tell all” will come from a black man or woman that is in an appointed office.
BO put color ahead of skill in all of his appointments. The appointees know it and so does the American Public.
The wreckage will take years to clear from the tracks.
Hagel is a criminally stupid man.
I’d been interested to know what CIA folks under muslim convert, Brennan have to say about his tenure. In those first weeks after 9-11 if you would have told me that a muslim president appointed a muslim CIA director less than 10 years after that horrible day, I would have called for a drug test..
Since when does the SECDEF work for the National Security Advisor?
If I were him, I’d have told her to go pound sand.
“he said he had no idea he was stepping into a minefield of back-stabbing within an administration focused on minutia instead of the big picture.”
I can’t muster up much sympathy for him. After seeing the Obama campaign and administration, you would have to be willfully blind to not see you were stepping into a nasty, dysfunctional group.
“Democratic Administrations have a history of standing by and allowing despot tyrants to get away with mass murder?”...
If truth be known, its what they, themselves are doing. Speaking of “mass murder” look what they are doing to this once great country.
If you want a World War, elect a Socialist DemoRat as American President.
You will have one, if another Socialist DemoRat doesn't "remove him from office" him first.
If Hagel thinks ‘this’ will rebuild his name and gain back some respectability, he’s a much bigger fool than people can imagine.
He may be hinting about a tell-all book, and I for one won’t be interested, period.
Easy, Chuck. You're white, you're a Republican...of sorts...and the President and his minions hate your guts on general principles.
You were brought in to take the blame...for something...and you failed to cooperate.
You spent your career in the Senate wanting to work with the Democrats. You finally got your chance...and found out what they really thought of you.
If Hagel didn’t expect this sort of behavior when he took the job, he’s even more clueless than I thought. Part of Beltway Disease is obviously severe naivety.
After he was told there was absolutely no support for even "a surgical strike" in Congress or in the military.
Obama's problem was that his "red line" was an idle threat, made without any notion of a plan or a thought that his bluff might be called. His big mouth wrote a check that he didn't even think about cashing. Presidents don't make threats like that unless they're prepared to back them up...and there is already a contingency plan in the file.
I suspect he was actually relieved when there was no support for any action -- because, then, he could blame the inaction on others.
Then Putin pulled his and Kerry's fat from the fire...making him look indecisive and ineffectual to Putin's "man in charge".
No wonder he hates Putin...
Could be. I expect most of the critical books will come from the Defense/Intelligence areas. Maybe a few from elsewhere.
Why would the SecDef even give the time of day to a subordinate hack like Rice? Hagel was in way over his head.
Vicariously or actually through PP!
Well, Obama is definitely a Muslim apologist and he identifies with them more than any other cultural group, including African Americans.
And after 9/11, our government did seem to make proving the US was not Islamophobic a higher priority than evaluating the dangers of Muslims moving in and out of the US so easily. Then Obama doubled and triple-downed on that.
I bet there will be some CIA folks who will tell some stories soon after Obama is out of office.

You really shucked the corn for that Husker, okie01. Dittos here - reminds me of the story of the frog taking the scorpion across the stream and getting stung. The scorpion told the frog that he knew what he was when the frog gave him the ride. Hagel now has a better understanding of that story.
Lie down with dogs. Get up with fleas.
WHY would bombing Assad in Syria be a good idea?
Hagel was nuts to want that war.
I prefer murderous secular-leaning dictators in muslims countries.
