Trump’s fans are excited to rally — but they’re not sure they’ll show up to vote
The Washington Post ^ | DECEMBER 27, 2015 | By Jenna Johnson

Trump’s unexpected and sustained popularity has, at least in part, been fueled by his appeal to a voting bloc that seems to be emerging: blue-collar workers without college degrees who are slightly younger than the traditional Republican voter. Many say they haven’t cared about politics until now, as they flock to Trump rallies like groupies to a rock concert, read his books, buy his products, quote his jokes and follow his social-media accounts.

But is their devotion to Trump deep enough to vote?

For those who don’t regularly vote in primaries, doing so for the first time is a hurdle — especially in Iowa, which uses a caucus system that can intimidate first-timers.

In states with early primary contests, Trump’s staffers are trying to teach their supporters how to vote and get a commitment that they actually will. Before each rally here, Trump’s state co-chairs walk the crowd through how the caucuses work and urge them to attend. But they are also hoping word will spread through social media and in conversations after church, at the school bus stop, during coffee breaks and over holiday dinners.

What the leftist WaPo specializes in....when it comes to anything to do with the right.

Like Rush says....they always show us what/who they most fear.

Total liberal fantasy. People will stand in line for hours to go to a Trump rally but won’t take the time to vote?? Get real.

By covering up for crimes, scandals and gaffes for Democrats, the media shouldn’t be surprised that their business-as-usual smears aren’t working on Trump. The public will not apply the same hypocrisy and double standards to their candidates that the media does.

South Dakota has been carried by a democrat presidential candidate twice since 1889”

Watch out, the Hillary camp might start pandering to the indigenous people any time now. Republicans could be blamed for the buffalo kill off. :-)

Another absurd hit piece.

So Trump supporters are willing to drive a long way (for some), deal with the hassle of parking, wait in a long line, be in a crowded building with thousands of others, probably waiting for hours, then deal with leaving with the crowd and traffic to get back home - yet taking a few minutes to vote, not only for president but for other representatives and local issues, will be too much trouble for them?

Yeah, right. It’s not like they are going to a Jeb rally where they can park up front and arrive the last minute.

It fits well with their mindset that all the Trump supporters are simpleton rubes that watch reality TV. They love to ponder theories that place themselves in a superior light to the general public.

Its completely impossible in their minds that people may be EXTREMELY sick and tired of seeing their neighborhoods over run with foreigners that share nothing in common with. No? That couldn’t be it? Idiots.

More BS from the lib rag sheet. Take it to the bank, if these folks are willing to travel distances to stand on line to hear the Trumpster they will show up to vote.

This is a stupid conclusion. Anyone with enough excitement to go to a rally (which I have never done) is someone who will vote and try and get their friends to vote.

So what you, and all the others saying the same thing, are claiming is that Trump is going to win Iowa handily because of the size of his crowds, right?

I guess we’ll soon see how that logic works out, or whether instead the writer of the article was correct in reporting that most of the people at his rallies won’t be caucusing.

Well I’m certainly not going to drive from Utah to Wyoming to a Trump rally and then vote for someone else....

That is total insanity...

I was even thinking about driving 9 hours to Reno, Nev to hear Trump speak and drive back another 9 hours....not wise, but seriously considered it, but will if Trump is not coming to Utah...

I want to see him, I want to feel the crowd of excitement...and if that’s what it’s going to take, then I’ll do it...

That is what support means, you do what you have to do to support the cause, and my cause is to see Trump POTUS in 2017!!!

According to Jenna Johnson we Trump supporters are not college educated and are therefore too stupid to figure out how to vote in an Iowa Caucus.

You guys in Iowa stupid?

Funny thing is..., “... it is just wonderful to be back in Oregon, and over the last 15 months we’ve traveled to every corner of the United States. I’ve now been in fifty .... seven states? I think one left to go. One left to go. Alaska and Hawaii, I was not allowed to go to even though I really wanted to visit but my staff would not justify it.”

He was shooting for 60. Very few folks know that.

He intimated..., “I’ve been in 57 states and still have one to go, plus there are two I won’t be going to.” That’s 60.

Here’s something else very revealing.

Guess which entity has 57 states.

Read this. I was unaware of it until just now.

All this information is at the link.

it's far more of an effort to attend a rally, given the crowds, parking, seating weather and other random factors than to show up to vote

>>There’s no ballot box, it’s a caucus. You have to show up, spend several hours listening to specifying (speechifying?) , being moved from place to place, waiting to be counted and verified. It can be a pain in the neck to do and it takes about all day to get done.<<

You’re describing a Democrat caucus. The GOP votes soon after the caucus is convened in the evening and people can leave after they vote if they wish. You apparently do have to be a registered Republican to vote, but you can change your registration to GOP at the door. However, that requirement alone could discourage a lot of long-time Dem voters currently enthralled with Trump.

From what I read, you can re-register as a Republican at the door, but I agree that a lot of registered Dems and Independents would be reluctant to do that. After all, if Trump isn’t the nominee, many of them will be likely to vote for Hillary in the general election.
