Forbes: GOP Support of Israel Responsible for Christian Persecution in Middle East

Despite much hand-wringing by Republican leadership, the GOP is actually complicit in the persecution of Christians in the Middle East because of its vocal support for Israel, argues Doug Bandow in a Forbes essay Saturday.

Bandow rightly notes that Christians are the most persecuted religious group in the world today and are “harassed and harmed in more than 100 countries.” Christians, he writes, “are particularly vulnerable to government abuse, especially in Muslim-majority states.”

Yet Bandow takes issue with Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) 79% ’s Christmas Eve article denouncing attacks on Christian communities, contending that the GOP, rather than the Obama administration (or the Islamist radicals themselves), is to blame for Christian persecution.

The policies implemented by the Republican party “have hurt and will continue to hurt Christians around the world,” Bandow writes. Particularly odious, he declares, is former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, “who actively aids Israeli settlers in the West Bank, harming Christian and Muslim Palestinians alike.”

Bandow also takes issue with Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 97% , “who last year used a conference of persecuted Christians as a campaign prop to proclaim his everlasting fealty to Israel.”

No Christian persecution in the middle east is due to the support of islamics . Every single time support is given to muslim they reward it by persecuting both Christians and Jews .

Israel is the only safe haven for anyone in the middle east .

The more islamic a nation grows the crazier and more savage that nation becomes .

Nonsense. The reason for Christian persecution in the middle east is found in one word: Islam. See any Christians in Saudi Arabia? The Bible is prohibited. And surely ISIS is a paragaon of Christian tolerance. The flase prophet Mahomet, murderer, thief, rapist, and child abuser, started it all and has not stopped since—never will. Nonsense.

Nope. Islam is responsible for that.

Dear Lera: I hate to be a grammar Nazi but the lack of punctuation after No in your first sentence gives it the opposite meaning from what I think that you intended.

My standard rebuttal to people who say these type of things is usually something like;

I guess Lincoln was responsible for the KKK. /S

Uh oh.

Sounds like Steve is either confused about islam or he is a muzzie lover.

One would think, Steve, that the party "responsible" for the persecution would be the ones doing the persecuting.

Forbes logic is like a person saying, "Harry made me mad, so I killed him. Therefore Harry is responsible for his own death."

From wikipedia on Bandow:

“Bandow resigned from Cato in December, 2005 after admitting he accepted payments from lobbyist Jack Abramoff over approximately ten years in return for publishing articles favorable to Abramoff’s clients. The articles identified his affiliation with Cato, but he did not tell Cato about the payments. He has referred to these activities as “a lapse of judgment” and said that he accepted payments for “between 12 and 24 articles.”[4] Copley News Service, which had carried Bandow’s syndicated column for a number of years, suspended him immediately.[5]”

The Turks exterminated the Albanian Christians because the GOP supported Israel?

Iraqi Christians are being exterminated because of American support of Israel?

Egyptian Copts are routinely threatened because of our support for Israel?

Why is this journo giving cover for ISIS and the rest of the killers?

Islam is responsible for persecution in the Middle East.

Conservative Christians are not going to do anything but back Israel because that is what the Bible teaches.

He has referred to these activities as “a lapse of judgment”

I just want to punk in the face every sleezeball that uses these NewSpeak like cliches to describe disgusting, unethical and more often than not, criminal behavior.

If the guy was in the room with me it would be a knuckle sandwich right in his lying mouth.

The only country in which the Christian population is growing... is Israel.

But Doug Bandow will not allow himself to be confused by the facts.

Just what we need in Forbes: another halal excuse for Islamic persecution of Christians.

Blame Da Joos!

GOP is to blame for Muslim persecution of Christians b/c of its support for Israel makes no sense whatsoever.

I have zero tolerance for anti-Semitism. And Bandow has revealed his true colors.

As a Jew-hater and dhimmi apologist for Islam.

What do you expect from someone with a public school edu-ma-cation? No seriously it drives me crazy that this board can not be edited because I make the craziest grammar mistakes on a constant basis. I blame it on the brain damage =P
