President Obama was in Japan Friday as Attorney General Eric Holder announced that the self-proclaimed architect of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks Khalid Sheik Mohammed and four other Guantanamo Bay detainees will stand trial in a federal civilian courtroom down the street from the site where the World Trade Center's twin towers once stood. The Obama administration's decision to prosecute five Sept. 11 terror suspects in New York rather than in a military tribunal has sparked furor among those who say the White House is wearing blinders when it comes to the ongoing War on Terror. "America is still at...

Anti Muslim Rhetoric Reaching a Dangerous Level by Sheila Musaji After the Fort Hood Tragedy, every national Muslim organization and most local organizations condemned the actions of Maj. Hasan without qualification. When a Yemen based cleric, Anwar al Awlaki praised the shooting, they also repudiated al Awlaki’s comments. Many Muslims have spoken up condemning this tragedy, as they have previously spoken up against all forms of extremism and terrorism. The President of the United States, top military Generals, and the Secretary of the Homeland Security Dept. have all appealed for reason and asked people not to turn this into blaming...

In keeping with their campaign promises, the Obama Administration is moving the9/11 terrorists from Cuba to the US to stand trial, effectively giving them the full protection of the US Constitution. Today, A.G. Eric Holder announced that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed would be tried, in all places, New York, the very place he is alleged to have attacked on 9/11. Normally one would worry if the accused could get a fair trial in the very place most devastated by the attacks. Wouldn't any jury be biased against anyone accused of killing 2,751 of their neighbors? Wouldn't a quiet city in the...

WASHINGTON - The U.S. Army says morale has fallen among its forces in Afghanistan, where troops are seeing record violence in the 8-year-old war. A new battlefield survey taken several months ago found instances of depression, anxiety and other psychological problems about the same as in 2007 — but there was a significant drop in unit morale. The Army also says there is a shortage of mental health workers to help soldiers, partly because of the troop buildup started this year by President Barack Obama.

There is a division of the house. On one side are the politically correct in government, the leftist mainstream media, and a raft of Islamist apologists. One and all are tripping over each other in reassuring us the mass murderers such as Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan and suicide-bombers who detonate their explosive vests in crowded marketplaces and even mosques are individual anomalies and Islam is not responsible for what they do. On the other side are those fed up with the innumerable daily horrific acts throughout the world that are clearly committed under the banner of Islam. In all fairness,...

...like the cavalry, the FBI came riding to the PC rescue. The Federal Bureau of Let’s Skip the Investigation pronounced that the killing was not terrorism. Forget about Islamic (or at least Islamist) terrorism. This mass murder wasn’t even terrorism. The FBI and the rest of our Islamophilic government have their story, and they’re sticking to it. The terrorists’ siege on our nation has nothing to do with Islam. It is the work of al-Qaeda, and al-Qaeda terrorists — so the catechism goes — are not true Muslims. Sure, Osama bin Laden & Co. accurately quote Islamic scriptural injunctions to...

In the wake of the Fort Hood jihad massacre, Muslim leaders in this country are preparing a fatwa on the permissibility of serving in the U.S. military. It is likely to differ from this one, but the answers from this site are on the whole more respected than anything that comes from Muslims in the West. Islam-QA is a very popular site for Muslims to get answers to questions they have, and the late Muhammad Uthaymeen is very respected as well -- even in the West. "Military service in kaafir armies and working as a "chaplain" in those armies," from...

The day after the deadliest example of Muslim terrorism to be carried out inside the U.S. since 9/11, President Obama told us not to “jump to conclusions” about the motives of the alleged shooter, in spite of the fact that several eyewitnesses reported that the alleged shooter, Maj. Malik Hasan shouted “Allah Akbar” as he gunned down his fellow soldiers. On Sunday, in an appearance on NBC’s Meet the Press, U.S. Army Chief of Staff General George Casey Jr. also warned the public of drawing any conclusions about Maj. Hasan, and lamented that “It would be a shame — as...

Warning from me: This is pretty graphic and is touching at the same time. You may need tissues handy... This was read on the air by J.D. Hayworth, talk show host at KFYI in Phoenix. He received it from an officer that was just about to enter the building at Ft. Hood where the shooting happened. He wanted an accurate account out there since so far there's a lot of different accounts and they've yet to come together into 1 complete version. Here's what he sent to KFYI: First-Hand Account from Ft. Hood Monday 11-09-2009 2:57pm MT Since I don't...

On Thursday afternoon, a radicalized Muslim US Army officer shouting "Allahu Akbar!" committed the worst act of terror on American soil since 9/11. And no one wants to call it an act of terror or associate it with Islam. What cowards we are. Political correctness killed those patriotic Americans at Ft. Hood as surely as the Islamist gunman did. And the media treat it like a case of non-denominational shoplifting. This was a terrorist act. When an extremist plans and executes a murderous plot against our unarmed soldiers to protest our efforts to counter Islamist fanatics, it’s an act of...

Backlash fever is sweeping the nation: thirteen Americans are dead and thirty-eight wounded in a jihad attack at Fort Hood, and our government’s primary concern -- from the Chief of Staff of the Army to the Islamic pressure groups such as CAIR -- are focused entirely on ensuring that Muslims in the United States are not being victimized by a “backlash.” Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano declared: “We object to, and do not believe, that anti-Muslim sentiment should emanate from this. This was an individual who does not represent the Muslim faith.” She said that DHS was taking steps to...

In his nationally televised remarks following the horrendous killings at Ft. Hood, President Obama never mentioned the T word. The attack was an act “of violence.” No mention of terrorism. In fact, the Ft. Hood shooting is the first terror attack on American soil since 9-11. But Obama, reluctant to take the rap for inadequate protections against such attacks, is doing everything he can to make it look like an adult version of the Columbine school shootings. We are treated to stories about the killer’s dread of being sent back to Afghanistan and his deformed personality. But, the fact is...

Echoing my thoughts and I believe the thoughts of many Americans, Contentions' Jennifer Rubin responds to Army Chief of Staff General George Casey's "concern" about a "backlash" against Moslems in the U.s. military as a reult of the Fort Hood massacre: Casey should be concerned if his organization was asleep at the switch and fell victim to a political correctness that clouded common sense. We should be concerned that the head of the Army now seems nervous about candidly discussing what occurred. To be clear: it is the ultimate red herring, a straw man of gargantuan proportions, to suggest that those pointing to Hasan's...

After the 7/7 London transport bombings woke at least some people up to the phenomenon of British ‘sleeper’ Islamic terrorism – and, equally important, to the way this was continuing to be denied by the British establishment – the reaction across the pond was, to say the least, complacent. What on earth had happened to the British lion? Americans asked, scratching their heads in amazement at how a country which had once stood united in determination to fight the enemies of democracy on the beaches was now apparently indifferent to the spread of jihadi fanaticism and support for religiously inspired...

Amy Goodman, the Marxist host of Democracy Now!, reported that “a former so-called enemy combatant,” who has been jailed in the U.S. for over six years without charge, has now been sentenced to over eight years in prison. This opening description sets a tone, which leaves the viewer with the impression that the remainder of the piece will veer off into a discussion of the injustice of a sentence, presided over by a heavy-handed and obviously anti-Islamic judicial system, which holds presumably innocent people for six years without charge.

The Washington Post reports tonight that Barack Obama and top administration officials have concluded the Taliban cannot be beaten and that they are looking for ways to cede parts of Afghanistan to the Taliban without those regions becoming safe havens for al Qaeda. The article also reports that Obama may wait until after he returns from a 10 day visit to Asia that begins November 11 to decide his policy for Afghanistan. The Post article is largely about Obama's request made this week, two months after he received Gen. Stanley McChrystal's request for tens of thousands more troops to fulfill Obama's counter-insuregency...

A few months ago when French President Nicholas Sarkozy announced that burqas were not welcome in France, I had a feeling that was just a small step in France's battle with Islam. Now more of the saving France from Islam plan has been revealed. Well Muhajir, if your account of the class is accurate, they are only teaching the truth. UNM's Islam classes teach non-Muslims fear, hatred Editor, As a Religious Studies major who happens to be Muslim, I recently signed up for classes related to my religion of choice: Islam. I thought that taking these classes would increase my knowledge of the religion and give me a much-needed break from the lies and propaganda that I see on the news. Man, was I wrong.

Remember the Danish "Muhammad cartoons" that set off riots by offended Muslims more than three years ago? The debate pitted freedom of press and speech against notions of freedom from insult of one's religion. It rages still – but now in a forum with international legal implications. For years, Islamic nations have succeeded in passing "blasphemy" resolutions at the United Nations (in the General Assembly and in its human rights body). The measures call on states to limit religiously offensive language or speech. No one wants their beliefs ridiculed, but the freedom to disagree over faith is what allows for...

KENT, Conn. — Peter Gadiel wants everyone to remember his son, James, who was killed during the September 11 terrorist attacks. And he also wants people to remember how he died: "Murdered by Muslim terrorists." For Gadiel, any tribute to his son would be woefully incomplete without those words. "I think it's important, because I think there's a nationwide effort to suppress the identity of the people who were involved in the attacks," Gadiel told Fox News.

California's educrats have put out new rules for teaching Islamic studies to seventh-graders in public schools, and they are as biased as ever. They'll also likely spread eastward. The lesson guidelines adopted by the bellwether state whitewash the violence and oppression of women codified in Islamic law, or Shariah. And they're loaded with revisionist history about the faith. In fact, "wife beating is allowed under Shariah" today, she added. "It allows a woman seen without a headdress to be flogged, punishes rape victims, and calls for beheading for adultery." California's course on world religions also omits Islam's long history of...

Democrats in Congress care more about protecting terrorists' rights than protecting the American public, a Republican lawmaker charged Wednesday. Rep. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.) made the incendiary claim during an interview on a conservative news radio program that the decision to close the terrorist detention facility in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba would "strengthen the hands of terrorists." "I've been on the Judiciary Committee as well as the Armed Services Committee, and it has bewildered me as to why this Democratic majority has worked to seemingly protect the rights of terrorists more than to protect the American people," Franks said in an interview...

While the naive and ignorant of America continue to drool over America Muslims, facts show us that Muslims here are causing the same problems that Muslims cause across the world. A 27-year-old man from Sudbury has been arrested on charges he planned terrorism attacks inside and outside the United States, according to a spokeswoman for Acting U.S. Attorney Michael K. Loucks. The announcement will be made at the federal courthouse in South Boston. Developing...

We tried the first World Trade Center bombers in civilian courts. In return we got 9/11 and the murder of nearly 3,000 innocents. The Obama administration has said it intends to try several of the prisoners now detained at Guantanamo Bay in civilian courts in this country. This would include Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the mastermind of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, and other detainees allegedly involved. The Justice Department claims that our courts are well suited to the task. Based on my experience trying such cases, and what I saw as attorney general, they aren't. That is not to say...

Eight years after 9/11, the city where the attack was planned is once more enjoying a sad reputation as a center for Islamic terrorism. The German media reported earlier this week that German security officials are tracking in Hamburg a new, ten-man Islamic terrorist group. Hamburg is the city that hosted Mohammed Atta and other key, 9/11 terrorists, while they planned their strike against the World Trade Center. Afterwards, history bestowed the city’s name on Atta and his associates, who ever since have been collectively called the “Hamburg Cell.” According to an internal intelligence report composed by Hamburg’s security agencies,...

VIENNA – Iran experts at the U.N nuclear monitoring agency believe Tehran has the ability to make a nuclear bomb and worked on developing a missile system that can carry an atomic warhead, according to a confidential report seen by The Associated Press. The document drafted by senior officials at the International Atomic Energy Agency is the clearest indication yet that those officials share Washington's views on Iran's weapon-making capabilities and missile technology — even if they have not made those views public. The document, titled "Possible Military Dimension of Iran's Nuclear Program," appeared to be the so-called IAEA "secret...

Historical moments, frozen and encapsulated in each individual's memory, sometimes define whole generations. These moments spark familiar "where-were-you-when..." conversation starters that mysteriously have the power to weld otherwise quite disparate people into a cohesive voice. My own generation had had three of them before we even reached adulthood. JFK, MLK and RFK. That trio of assassinations taught me and so many others the unforgettable lessons about the fragility of life and how easily the illusion of worldly security can be shattered in a single instant. But nothing -- absolutely nothing -- had ever prepared me for the Richter-Scale-10 shift in...

9/11 should be a time for every American to ponder the events of that fateful and horrific day in 2001. We had just suffered more casualties from a foreign enemy in an act of war than had ever been sustained by America on its own soil in its entire history - including the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, and the attack on Pearl Harbor. Most Americans were angry and demanded action. Fully 90% supported George Bush as he laid out his plans to respond to the attack. And that support was still above 70% when President Bush ordered the...

Another CSL member said it was unacceptable to label Islam as violent under any circumstances; we wonder how he defines the following image.

On January 22, as one of his first official acts as president, Barack Obama signed an executive order mandating the closing of the U.S. detention facility at Guantanamo Bay within one year. Liberals on two continents cheered. But what to do with the detainees? France agreed to take one prisoner; Ireland two. A few others have made “commitments” to take one or two miscreants off of our hands, after months of pleading from the Obama administration. For the most part, however, the Euro-states who did the most braying about Gitmo detainees have declined to accept them into their streets and...

ATLANTA – A 23-year-old man was convicted Wednesday of aiding terrorist groups by sending videotapes of U.S. landmarks overseas and plotting to support "violent jihad," after a federal jury rejected his arguments that it was "empty talk." Sadequee, who could face up to 60 years in prison, is scheduled for sentencing Oct. 15. He stared silently after the verdict was read, and relatives and supporters in the courtroom had no immediate comment.

It's official. The U.S. is no longer engaged in a "war on terrorism." Neither is it fighting "jihadists" or in a "global war." President Obama's top homeland security and counterterrorism official took all three terms off the table of acceptable words inside the White House during a speech Thursday at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a Washington think tank. "The President does not describe this as a 'war on terrorism,'" said John Brennan, head of the White House homeland security office, who outlined a "new way of seeing" the fight against terrorism. The only terminology that Mr. Brennan...
