Why Can Americans No Longer Agree to Disagree?(CDB)

In all my years, living through good times and bad, war, recession, periods of great advancement, social upheaval, the eradication of catastrophic diseases and the myriad of forward leaps and backward slides in this United States of America, I have never seen a time when our population was on such adversarial footing.

The problem is not just disagreement, that always has and always will exist, but it seems that in the past we were always able to find some common ground, with reasonable people on each side of an issue. Through civil discourse, and give and take, negotiations found a path both sides could live with.

I think our forefathers designed our government to make it possible for both sides of an issue to be heard, but look how far that concept has fallen, with congressional leaders not even allowing legislation they disagree with to even get to the floor for debate.

It seems, today, instead of engaging in two-sided conversations and attempts to understand each other, we tend to label and lump all those who disagree with us into categories we consider to be mentally inferior to us, considering anything they say to be out of step, off the wall or just plain stupid.

For instance, if you let it be known that you don't go along with the global warming theories, you are labeled a mental Neanderthal, unable to understand the catastrophic threat to the planet, and even though, for the last century, the apologists have vacillated between devastating heat and ice age and neither have transpired, you are considered to be a flat earth type doofus.

It actually gets worse.

The progressive belief or non-belief system.

They are or have combined Humanism, which is basically Buddhism with the uncertainty of Quantum Physics.

I do NOT believe in “Global Warming” or any of the other names attributed to taxation of the American people to further just another power grab by the NWO.

Since I am a grandma,am a woman(old school and tough as nails, not one of these new-fangled thin skinned screamers) and love my children and grandchildren, I WILL NOT support another pure politician on the excuse that “this one is different.”

I firmly believe Americans have been polite appeasers far too long. Time to take up the sword and defeat the accursed in our country.

And that is Trump’s tactic not on the left but all who dare to disagree. He has it perfected.
.........................................................
BULL! Trump tells it like it is as ALL Americans used to do before political correctness destroyed the first Amendment. You can disagree with Trump but you cannot expect to get away with lies as the left is so prone to do. He will call you on it, just as his supporters will call out lies perpetrated by those who just want more of the same old politics.

I’m reminded of the SouthPark episode called “ManBearPig”

Al Gore harasses the SP kids about his make-believe creature called ManBearPig and risks their lives in his pursuit to kill it.

In the Al Gore character’s mind there is zero uncertainty as to the existence of the creature and he becomes violently inconsolable whenever he encounters resistance to his insane antics.

This was written to mock the anthropogenic climate change fanatics and their insane zeal to demonize the so-called “deniers”.

We see this behavior play out somewhere every single day. It isn’t enough that they believe that man is adversely affecting the climate (an absurdity on the face of it) but that we must commit ALL of our resources to “solving the crisis”. No debate (”The science is settled”), no discussion. There are climate-change adherents who advocate imprisonment and even summary execution for deniers!

How are we supposed to amicably deal with such thoroughly dysfunctional and disputatious people?!

One half wants to live off the labor of the other; all politics is basically just cover to try to justify this. No room for compromise.

The existence of a contrary opinion invalidates the liberal worldview.

Homosexuality will never, in reality, be “normal”, by definition.
Liberals can’t stand that, so seek to eliminate anyone that believes differently than they do.

We used to fight fire with fire before we became politically correct. Thank God I never succumbed to that and have always spoken my mind. Thanks to my mom’s byword, “Always paddle your own canoe.”

I’ve posted this video many times before on FR.

IMHO, it is very insightful as to the progressive’s mind or worldview.

This kid being interviewed is not stupid. Misguided yes, but not stupid.

No Science, No Logic and No Morality: Atheism.

Charlie is great, but he is totally wrong!

It does not bother me that liberals/leftists don't understand or agree with this, but I always feel like conservative folk like Freepers should easily understand the real problem here...

...we abandoned true diversity - federalism. It is really that simple.

We do NOT disagree any more today than in the past.

We are NOT any less civil than in the past.

We are NOT supposed to agree, for crying out loud.

We just need to go back to deciding things at lower levels so that we can live where people who agree with us live. And the most important decisions are made closer to the voters. Try getting an appointment with your US Senator - you can't. Whereas your state house rep will probably mow your dang lawn for you while you discuss legislation over a couple beers.

Don't compromise, DECENTRALIZE!

Thanks.

I think people just sometimes forget that agreement at the central level was easier in the past because it was a given that very few of those decisions would affect individual lives.

The central level is for deciding what the country should do as a country - wars, etc.

States, counties, cities, churches, families and (ultimately and most significantly) selves are for deciding how to run individual lives.

Whereas today the feds not only control every aspect of your daily actions, they are now moving into controlling what you are allowed to believe.

So we are now condemned to campaigns which continually promise to reverse everything each four year cycle.

God created diversity. Man is mucking it up - as usual.

“Tolerance” and “diversity” are Marxist concepts to destroy minds of children. They twisted the word “tolerance” to mean “tolerance of evil” and “diversity” to destroy critical thinking and discernment, so that there would be no outrage to killing babies and sodomizing others when the sodomite elites forced their ethical satanic system on us, like they did with the treasonous SCOTUS 5 who need to be in prison for forcing their satanic religion (ethics) on us to normalize paganism/satanism/islam (irrationality) in our children.
