USC prof. says Trump supporters are 'least educated segment of the population'

Professor Marty Kaplan of the University of Southern California published an op-ed in the Huffington Post called "The 7 Stages of Too Much Trump Media Disorder," a parody of the five stages of grief that calls Trump an "extremist bully" and a fascist. Kaplan defines his satirical disorder as a "self-fulfilling" cycle of media attention given to Donald Trump that sucks "the media oxygen from the room." "The more attention Trump got, the even more attention he got," Kaplan explains. Kaplan's made-up disorder has 7 stages, which he calls:

1. shock,
2. denial,
3. anger,
4. bargaining,
5. guilt,
6. depression,
7. and acceptance.

When describing "shock," the first stage of "Too Much Trump media disorder," Kaplan likens Trump’s political views to fascism. "This can’t be," Kaplan writes. "This is what fascism looks like when it comes to America. Trump demonizes Mexicans and Muslims. He insults women, mocks the handicapped, jeers at journalists. He dismisses the Bill of Rights as a cover for political correctness. He's obliterated the boundaries of civil discourse. He's a narcissist, a nativist, a vulgarian, a demagogue."

Later, when describing the third stage of "Too Much Trump" disorder," Kaplan takes a shot at the intelligence of Trump's supporters. "Can't you see?" Kaplan asks his readers. "His supporters are the least educated segment of the population, and he pulls their strings like a master puppeteer. He panders to the basest urges of his base. His crowds are seething with rage. He's unleashed something scary." When describing "guilt," the fifth stage of the disorder, Kaplan attributes Trump's success to a lack of enthusiasm for alternative candidates on the part of American voters...

Marty Kaplan is the Norman Lear Professor of Entertainment, Media and Society at the USC Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism and the founding director of the Norman Lear Center for the study of the impact of entertainment on society. His uncommonly broad career has also spanned government and politics, the entertainment industry and journalism.

Norman Lear Center for the study of the impact of entertainment on society.

A cog in the Gramsci Cultural Hegemony machine.

I’m watching the Trump speech right now from Iowa, and he is knocking it out of the park.

Big time.

I think he’s even better than he was before Christmas.

Very good speech.

Is anyone less educated than Barack Obama’s racial rabble? Was anyone pointing this out seven years ago?

He's unleashed something scary.

Hmmm, first we are told he plays on fear. Now we are told to fear him.

Yep, we’re just too stupid to know that letting millions of unvetted and unknown foreigners into our country is good for us.

Without a doubt, judging by graduation rates, the least educated/ most factually ignorant segment of the population are Blacks and Hispanic Americans. The latter mostly Mexican Americans. Cuban Hispanics are much better educated.

Of course Blacks and Mexican Hispanics vote strongly for Dems. The professor is a liar and an ignoramus.

I have my Master’s in Education. I get to mold young minds. I support Trump. My wife has a B.S. in Clinical Laboratory Science. She is the laboratory director at her rather large hospital. She supports Trump. Go suck an egg Marty Kaplan!

Professor Marty Kaplan of the University of Southern California published an op-ed in the Huffington Post...yeah - the Huffington Post which published a story after something Dr. Carson had said which asserted that he had lost his license to practice medicine in all fifty states overnight because of the statement (Hint - he wouldn't have been licensed in all fifty states and it would take weeks to lose a license in any one even if it happened) - The HuffPost is the last place to look for any sort of reliable, rational political reporting.....

The Magnas, awards, fellowships, etc., notwithstanding, I’ll self-identify as Leroy from the Holler if that will drive this ‘good’ professor bats.

USC prof. says Trump supporters are 'least educated segment of the population'

If that's the case, you can thank our vaunted government run school system. Trump's appeal crosses all economic lines. The highly educated, high income elitists support Hitlery Abedin, El Yebbo, Bernie Sanders, et al.

You'd think it'd be a good thing that Trump appeals to the underdog.

Ah,haaa-—the old “trailer trash” defense.

They truly are pitiful.

I don’t think that the I.Q. of many Obama voters would make them shoo-ins for M.I.T.
