Federal judge: Drinking tea, shopping at a gardening store is probable cause
Washington Post ^ | December 28, 2015 | Radley Balko

In April 2012, a Kansas SWAT team raided the home of Robert and Addie Harte, their 7-year-old daughter and their 13-year-old son. The couple, both former CIA analysts, awoke to pounding at the door. When Robert Harte answered, SWAT agents flooded the home. He was told to lie on the floor. When Addie Harte came out to see what was going on, she saw her husband on his stomach as SWAT cop stood over him with a gun.

One would think the garden store would file against the sheriff’s dept. for loss of business or something. Of course, the next time the store had a robbery or break in they wouldn’t get any assistance from the cops so rock and hard place.

What lawsuit? You mean the one that a judge just dismissed with a ruling that the police were justified?

Radley Balko published a book a couple of years ago called "Rise of the Warrior Cop".

At the time there were many reviews, articles about, and segments from the book published in the media and it was widely discussed at Free Republic.

One of the main topics of the book was the proliferation of SWAT that first began only in large cities, but now are found in most all small towns/counties. He also pointed out how SWAT is now used for code enforcement.

He also gave the reason why the police shoot dogs. They call it SWAT but is actually military weapons and tactics which requires that all distractions to the operation must be eliminated. A barking dog might not be a threat but can "distract" a SWAT or even an individual officer.

I’m sick of seeing how 11 year-old kids can’t just leave the house and find a place to go fishing on their own. Nowadays and in this community, you can take your kids over to the municipal grounds and go fishing in a little pond with the cops. This is what they would rather you have them do, as if there really is a predator lurking behind every tree. This year, they wanted to have parents let their kids go Christmas shopping with them. I’m not sure because I don’t have kids but it’s starting to seem like the kids like it that way. What a shame!

That happened to my mother and I a couple of years ago the CA-AZ border. We were stopped at a “fruit check” and the DHS dude wanted our passports.

No problem, but then his co-worker said that the dog had alerted on mom’s car. Pretty neat trick, considering that it had never even had a cigarette smoked in it.

After half an hour of the dog going in and out of all 5 doors of the car, over the seats, up and down in the back with his handler saying “dirty, dirty, dirty” the whole time, they let us continue on our way.

We were quite impressed, I must say. /s

Exactly, But the Media, Balko, and some here are only interested the problems.

How many drugs that would have killed people were taken off the street.

The cops have become “militarized,” because the crooks and terrorists are better armed than the cops.

In NYC, for example, street cops are restricted to 10 round mags in their pistols, and no shotgun nor carbine.

The crooks, let along the terrs, all have AKs and begin firing at cops the moment the encounter begins.

NYC cops have simply, in many cases, given up on trying to control crime in Black neighborhoods. Their realistic attitude is, “The locals don’t want us there. If we shoot someone we are crucified, etc. If they want to live in a lawless jungle, let them.”

(There are 1,100,000 Muslims in NYC, If 1% are terrs, that 11,000. Want to face them with a Mod 17 Glock?)

Nobody has ever fatally overdosed on pot. And raiding tea-drinking gardeners takes no drugs off the street.

Please reread my original post. It was not about drugs or the LEO tactics involved with them.

It was about Radley Balko, a Huffington Post writer who tries to masquerade as a conservative/libertarian.

He formally wrote for FOX. One of his pro-drug stories was so bad, and wrongly accused the wife of a prominent republican Ambassador people of being a drug pusher that it and he were pulled from FOX.

Regardless of your feelings about drugs and LEOs, watch out for Balko.

This thread is about the police-state tactics of the War on Drugs; it is not about Radley Balko. If you want to participate in a thread about Radley Balko, feel free to post an article or self-composed vanity about Radley Balko.

Actually, you post what want, I’ll post what I want.

If you are so anti-police that you don’t want to know about Balko’s paid far-left per-disposition to make America look as bad as he can in every story, color every story in the worst possible way, then so be it.... and don’t read my posts.
