This 4 team playoff is a joke. No reason there can’t be an 8 team playoff. So many meaningless “bowls”. Except for the meaning of cash to the bowlers.
Get it down to four conferences and the Conference Championship game essentially makes it an Eight-Team playoff.
Why not 128 teams? 7 weeks of single loss elimination. Who cares about history or rivalries...

An 8 team playoff is 7 games - the top 7 bowls: Peach, Gator, Fiesta, Sugar, Cotton, Orange, and Rose Bowl for the championship.
Yeah I have to agree with you there. After I saw the shenanigans this year with helping the SEC out all year in voting...they need to get rid of polls and just go with conference champs. This way the conference know that they have a playoff at the end and have to have a single team at the top...doesn’t matter if they are ranked 1 or 10 they will get their one team in the playoffs.
The rankings are a joke after all. When you see a team go from 15 to 2nd because they beat Alabama and then lose a few times after that and stay in the polls just to help Alabama’s position in the polls—well let’s just say ESPN doesn’t like to lose money backing the SEC.
Bama shouldn’t be there....they will lose first round AGAIN.

Funniest thing about last year’s playoffs wasn’t Alabama losing in the first round.
It was the college infomercial they ran after Ohio State’s infomercial. Ohio State is showcasing their School of Medicine and undergrad programs. Then Alabama showcases their school for retards. No this is not a joke either.
IIRC, there are about 42 bowl games this year.
It is becoming almost as bad a particiaption trophies.
