A powerful House Republican is threatening to block President Obama's executive order on guns by defunding the Department of Justice (DOJ).
In a letter to Attorney General Loretta Lynch, Rep. John Culberson (R-Texas), chairman of the Appropriations subcommittee that oversees the Justice Department, warned against enforcing the new gun restrictions.
"The next twelve months will be an especially dangerous time for Americans who treasure our Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms," Culberson said.
"I have formally notified Attorney General Lynch that I will aggressively protect our Second Amendment rights using Congress' power of the purse," he added. "I notified the attorney general that if the Department of Justice attempted to create new restrictions on our Constitutional rights that I would use every tool at my disposal to immediately restrict their access to federal funding."
Culberson appears to be the first Republican to call to block DOJ funding over the executive action on guns.
In future budget agreements, House appropriators could specifically prohibit the Justice Department from enforcing the gun restrictions without defunding the entire agency.
Culberson warned Lynch not to "create new law" in his letter.

I hate to be sarcastic but this is such a crock of crap. Republicrats already funded the SOB!! What do think that OMNIBUS bill was? It funded obamacare for the 5th time. It funded illegal amnesty to house and feed all these diseased children trust in here by Presidential FIAT for the second time!! It funded the Iranian give away so they can come kill us with nuclear bombs!! And it ,by God , funded the DOJ!! 95 good republicans voted to not do that!! But the rest of these gutless wonders funded every damned dime the Dictator wanted.

Yes, the resistance will be feigned. At best. The important thing to ask when it comes to gun control posturing by the gop faction of the uniparty is this: why have they never pursued repeal of the Gun Control Act of 1968? Background checks, FFLs, and all that hogwash is built on the putrid edifice of GCA ‘68.
I’ll answer the question: because they have zero interest whatsoever in actually resolving the issue. The gop faction is just as much of a plantation for conservatives as the rat faction is for libs. Different plantation, same massa.

When it comes to guns, we would be worse off under willard. At least the gop faction of the uniparty makes a show of opposition to gun control under dear leader. If it were willard, they would be talking up how wonderful republigun control was.

No offense, but then what IS this board for? Crying into our beer? If not advocating/condoning, then why allow ANY posting (I understand it’s a CYA)?
Strike every post hinting at ‘watering the tree of Liberty’, ‘whites of their eyes’, ‘when in the course of Human events’, civil disobedience (rebellion) or a return of the Republic (an ‘overthrow’ [restoration] of our current Fascist govt)...ALL are, at the least, HINTS of the ‘forbotten’ in some fashion.
IMO, it’s these ‘settle down’ cries that allow the continual raping of our Rights, Liberty and Freedom when we SHOULD be ‘up in arms’ (excuse the pun).
We SHOULD be jacked-up and mad as hell AND ready for a ‘call to action’, if it should come down to it. We all (should) know Congress and the Courts aren’t going to correct this injustice. So, where DOES that leave us? It’s NOT called a last-resort for nothing.
