On the other hand, swing voters are the 10% of voters that supposedly decide elections. They are who all the millions in campaign ads are meant for, because they are swayable. I bet a good % of these types are both fed up with the status quo and regular consumers of reality show crap and pro wrestling. Seems to me this gives Trump an advantage among the swing voters, regardless of any political views actually espoused.

So, did Time write this same screed in 2008, about all the blacks that didn’t participate in prior elections but poll high for Obama? And did they actually vote?

Time has become a living caricature if itself. And I’ll wager they are very fearful of the harsh end of their gov enabled and shielded follies against America, when we take it back, and the damaging exposure many of those minions are going to receive, and richly deserve.

I can’t wait.

He forgot to mention that the Trump supporters probably don’t own cars... or own cars that are old jalopies and probably won’t make it to the polls. And they are not very good at reading so they might not be able to find the voting place and then read the ballot. You know, since his supporters are illiterate and all. /s

Geez... can this article be any more condescending?

Trump supporters are at best only nominally tethered to the political process.

Which explains his draw. Time is hoping that politics as usual wins the day, either getting another screaming Democrat or mushy Republican.

But Trump also has this way of skewering such things, and he cares little or nothing about party affiliation when he does. No triangulation for Trump. It's just spear the thang.

I think circumstances are heavily in favor of a Trump success. Heavily. It's good for the others to be in the contest to a point. It can bring issues to light. Cruz would probably be best in the Senate if (and it appears he will) Trump is open to persuasion on good advice. Cruz can hammer on Senate wobblies about the USSC nominees that someone like Sessions has suggested to Trump.

The main point the author made is that Trump has held diametrically opposed views and that his supporters don’t care. This is clearly true. How many Freepers who hated seeing Bill Clinton obstruct justice, commit perjury, defile the oval office, and smugly get away with it agree with Trump that it was a non issue? How many Freepers donated money (over 100K to the Clinton Foundation) to the Clintons and many, many other Democrats? How many Freepers said Hillary would make a great president, like Trump? How many Freepers invited the Clintons to their third wedding? I realize he’s saying what many people want to hear now. It’s the art of the deal. Say what people want to hear.

You are correct.
Donald Trump is also correct when he maintains proposed actions by the United States could stand to have more operational security.
Specifics are not needed at this time.
I am confident Donald Trump would surround himself with serious men and women who intend great success for our country.

Well, given the choice of someone who gravitates the right way vs. an “impeccable” soul who doesn’t seem to be moving any further, plus the one who is gravitating has more verve in goring sacred cows...

It might not be obvious as you might think.

Gosh, I’m glad Time is looking out for us. Well, there you have it, no one will bother to show up to vote for Trump, so thus we must immediately turn to a GOPe solution who will ensure a Hillary White House win.

Hey, come to think about it, since Time supports the Clintons and very good buddies with most of the GOPe, I wonder if it might be wise to question the validity of this report?

Nahh, what am I thinking? It’s Time, they’d never lie, so I’ll go tear up this Trump hat and go find a ‘real’ candidate.

It’s also worth taking it at face value. Suppose it really IS an art of a deal?

Well if Trump comes out of this with a lousy agenda in hand, whose fault would that be? I’d say that of those who never stepped up and dealt in the areas that haven’t been covered already. I think the results of Sessions with Trump should show the degree of opportunity here. If there was less pessimistic naysaying and more optimistic opportunism, America might get somewhere with Trump. Just sayin’.

The “point” is that many, many of his supporters have had it with traditional Republicanism and the treason that goes with it at the hands of Republican leadership. They are, in fact, worse than Democrats - far worse.

The benefit I see from him is that he has forever changed that “moderate, appeasing RINO candidate” meme that says we have to listen to media, we have to be tolerant, we have to consider and work with the other side. Bullsh!t He has proved that media is not the key to power any more. And he has proved how all the money in the Republican Cheap Labor Express and their PACS can’t fight genuine dissatisfaction.

Say what you will, bring up whatever you will about donations and prior words. It doesn’t make a difference and that is what truly pisses you and the Democrats/RINOs off. Put some ice on that.

The best example of late is Charles Krauthammer. He says the fact that Trump won't tell us specifically how he will get rid of ISIS, or remove illegals from the country, or balance the budget etc. is because he doesn't have a clue how he'll do that.

What does it gain Trump to say how he will do X, Y or Z?

If he shares his plan, his opponents will either co-opt it or beat him over the head with it. It is a lose/lose scenario.

Only those who are insecure in their plans and decisions share them with everyone. Case in point, Obummer saying to everyone that we will keep our troops in place until such and such a date. STUPID!

You should NEVER let the opposition know what you are going to do until you do it! What business would advertise that they are going to have a 20% off sale a month from now? The shoppers would hold off purchasing until then and the competition could lower their prices now and beat them to it!

Trump is a business man. A very confident business man. He knows the value of holding your cards close.

And maybe one guy means what he says and the other guy knows how to tell a crowd, a party, a third wife or whomever what they want to hear.

On the other hand to be open could reflect a degree of security anchored in faith...

Which is why I would be surprised Cruz isn’t even more open about it. Do things the bible way and God blesses, and the opposition gets squashed... with so much reliability that it can be tempting to get bored at. Till God smacks the bored one upside the head and says Yeah! Wake up! It matters!

Trump is going at it differently. He’s really proposing to deal. If nobody deals, then don’t blame Trump for those holes in his agenda filled up with liberal defaults.

Means what he says until he doesn’t... frankly in some situations Cruz has been asked to try to pick up a poop by its clean end. There are better answers to this, than Voila.

Exactly. Didn't Cruz just do that with Trump's Mexican wall idea?

And the person who doesn’t learn... could bespeak a worse problem than one who does. The bible even talks about that.

Except I’m not pi**ed off. I’m embarrassed that you’re being played and that you freely admit that you don’t care what he said, what he’s done (donations), or any other factor that should matter with a candidate who has never held any (kind of a big deal with the presidency) political office. I do think it’s interesting that you quote Bill Clinton’s vile comment that he’d used after raping a woman. I guess that was okay, too, like Trump said, of his friend Bill Clinton, “it’s a non issue.”
