Team Obama Joins Donald Trump’s Attack On Ted Cruz’s Citizenship
Breitbart ^

Posted on 01/06/2016 12:14:41 PM PST by springwater13

During the White House press briefing this afternoon, one reporter explained the fight between Cruz and Trump and asked if the president was enjoying the drama around Cruz's citizenship.

"I don't know if he does, but I sure do," Earnest quipped as reporters chuckled in response.

Earnest then seemed willing to feed the narrative questioning Cruz's citizenship.

"It would be quite ironic if after 7 or 8 years of drama around the president’s birth certificate if Republican primary voters were to choose Senator Cruz as their nominee," he said. "Somebody who actually wasn’t born in the United States and only 15 months ago renounced his Canadian citizenship."

Yes. I don’t know if this can get settled before Trump has to announce his running mate. It will take some speedy resolution.

Cruz knows the SCOTUS game. I hope he gets it resolved because I think Hillary/Dems will hard court press this issue.

So I guess it's true after all that Trump's words are being used to recruit Muslims to attack!

The gutless GOP let it slide, the hyenas on the other side won’t and they won’t worry about playing fairly either, not to mention that we look like hypocrites not to vet our candidates after the uproar about the Obama coverups.

That is exactly what I think. They don't care about hypocrisy, they just want to win... unlike our side who was so afraid of appearing "mean" that they just dropped the Obama eligibility issue. More than dropped, they actively attacked anyone on our side that wanted to fight the issue out.

The Democrats will not be so gentlemanly about our candidate. They won't reciprocate. They will go all out war on this issue, and they will do enough damage in the media alone to cost the election.

I found the link to this timeline regarding Cruz’s citizenship from a poster on the Conservative Treehouse.

I have no idea as to whether it is accurate or not. (old enough not to believe everything I read on the internet)

What do the rest of you think. If true, I will be disappointed, because Ted Cruz is one of my favorites.

never thought conservatives would go gaga over a thrice married guy though.

Why not? It's not like there aren't more than a few evangelicals who are also serial polygamists.

Well I think 60,000,000 Romney voters proved they wanted to be ruled by liberals. They voted for the biggest liberal in GOP history.

So you are completely correct. I mean they did and he is so there’s no denying the facts.

Then count all the so called conservatives here that had seven fits every time the Birth issue of Obama was brought up and how they screamed it was the wrong fight at the wrong time...today are the same people bitching about Cruz’s citizenship.

What ARE the odds?

I'm betting Trump got some "street" info that the Dems were going to wait on this until just before the first primary.

I agree. I think it is not just the Dems, but the entire uniparty. I believe it will be an issue of standing. I recall one of the court decisions dealt with this during the suits on Obama's illegal status. Maybe some other Freepers will know (remember). I believe they ruled that standing was predicated during the election cycle and not afterwards. I think this is what the occupation is going to hang their hat on.

I'm not surprised at the cynicism and evil of the white house bringing this up. If it is evil, obama and the uniparty own it.

That’s possible. You’re thinking way ahead if Cruz got taken out or could threaten retaliation.

This past summer, Trump raised questions about Cruz’s Canadian birth and whether he was constitutionally eligible to be president.... Trump was asked would he bring that up again, which he responded saying.... “I’ll only bring it up if he’s a final two,”...... So he has indeed done just that recently.

The state department doesn’t think its quite that simple.

They say that if the paperwork is in order...
“A child born abroad to a U.S. citizen parent or parents may acquire U.S. citizenship at birth if certain statutory requirements are met. The child’s parents should contact the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate to apply for a Consular Report of Birth Abroad of a Citizen of the United States of America (CRBA) to document that the child is a U.S. citizen. If the U.S. embassy or consulate determines that the child acquired U.S. citizenship at birth, a consular officer will approve the CRBA application and the Department of State will issue a CRBA, also called a Form FS-240, in the child’s name.”

This is the documentation they require
http://www.state.gov/documents/organization/156216.pdf

If Ted Cruz’s parents did obtain citizenship for him at birth he is golden. If not and he obtained it when his father became a US citizen we are back in the morass of natural born vs naturalized. He was born in Canada to a Canadian citizen Dad with a Canadian BC, a natural born Canadian citizen. If his Mom was a US citizen at that point she could have filed to have him declared one as well.

“Wasn’t Trump ASKED about this situation and essentially told Cruz he needs to clear it up soon...”

A couple of months ago, Trump said it was a non-issue. That is the problem with Trump. If he says one thing in September, he’ll feel free to say the opposite in January. So if he becomes the President, which Trump will be in office? The one who liked Hillary and Obama, or the one who says he is a conservative?

Why have all FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) requests filed in search of any U.S. citizenship documents to confirm the true official U.S. citizenship status of Ted Cruz been denied access? It appears all citizenship records for Ted Cruz are sealed unless and until Ted Cruz agrees to allow any such records to be released by either U.S. or Canadian agencies. Why? Again, just questions....

Trump and Cruz should work together on Trump filing a lawsuit challenging Cruz’ eligibility, so that Cruz can make - in addition to whatever other legal claims he wants to make - the claim that Obama has already set precedent for a foreign-born person becoming POTUS. And using that as the basis for getting discovery.

The issue never made it into the courts with Obama because the people who could have challenged Obama’s eligibility - with no possible claim that they lacked standing - were threatened. Hillary would not be threatened this time, so if Cruz is the R candidate Hillary would sue and her lawyers would cover for Obama to stop discovery. If the challenge comes BEFORE the primary is over, Trump would have standing, undoubtedly, and Trump’s lawyers could cooperate with Cruz’s to make sure that the full story of Obama’s lawless usurpation of our White House gets aired loudly and fully through expedited discovery. When the full extent of the criminal coverup was known, Obama would be seen as the Islamist puppet he is and perhaps this country would do something BEFORE Obama’s diabolical plan to establish an Islamic caliphate here could come to fruition.

It would be FANTASTIC!!!

Trump and Cruz need to work together to get this done!

I’m no Trump fan but I have to wonder, read hope, if Trump is setting up Obama and the dems for a big fall.

In 1961 it would be virtually impossible for the jug eared clown’s mother to give birth in Hawaii then, IIRC, about 3 weeks later be in Washington state with her new little jug eared clown.

Maybe Trump is going to let the dems fall all over themselves claiming Cruz isn’t eligible because he was born in Canada then dump the info Obama was actually born in Canada not Hawaii as he claimed.

Wouldn’t that be sweet justice.

Still wouldn’t get me to vote for Trump over Cruz but he would at least get my respect.

Trump is exactly right. The democrats will sue and make this a major issue if Cruz is the nominee.

A, there is nothing for them to sue over. And B, do you think the White House would have mentioned it if Trump hadn't brought it up?
