With Jeb Bush down in the polls, Bush World gets ready to deploy
Washington Post ^ | 1/8/16 | Ed O'Keefe

A year ago, when he was just beginning to run for president, Jeb Bush declared that he was "my own man" and suggested he would run as far as possible from his famous last name.

Now, stuck near the back of the GOP pack and fighting for survival, the former Florida governor is calling in the cavalry - relatives and hundreds of others with long ties to the Bush clan who are gearing up to flood Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina or Nevada in a push to get back into contention.

Bush World has done this before for his father, George H.W. Bush, and brother, George W. Bush, but many participating this time feel a more urgent need to get out and help.

"If you did this for his dad and brother, you owe it to Jeb to do it for his candidacy," said Husein Cumber, a Florida railroad executive who volunteered on Jeb Bush's 1998 gubernatorial campaign and for George W. Bush's 2000 presidential run. "Who better to go and campaign for him personally than those who know how to represent his conservative credentials?"

The Jeb Bush campaign formally requested help from longtime friends about a month ago. Aides are compiling lists of volunteers who sign up online using a form that asks to pick which state they can visit and how long they can help. Volunteers are also asked if they can pay their own way

Ah, Jeb has been "down in the polls" for about six months already.

Jeb’s campaign is dead. He just won’t admit it.

George W. Bush eeked in by the skin of a hanging chad over a certifiable lunatic, and again barely beat a cheese-eating surrender monkey in the middle of a war.

And he was an infinitely better candidate than Jeb.

I’ll know Jeb’s friends are really turning out for him when a Saudi prince knocks on my door and asks me to vote for Bush. Until then, his friends are just paying lip service.

Bush League strikes out again.

We're seeing the last dying gasps of two political dynasties: the Bushes and Clintons.

Dubya screwed the pooch by never standing up to defend his actions, relying on surrogates like Turdblossum.

Clinton, Inc. dies with Bill. Hillary and Chelsea are so unlikable their support will dry up when Bill assumes room temperature.

Jeb’s campaign is dead. He just won’t admit it.

If he can't do anything in SC with 'Rat crossovers, and can't get his GOPe peeps to steal FL, then we can pronounce it dead. Until then ... well, money talks.

Jeb is the only potential GOP nominee that would be GUARANTEED to lose to Hillary, so it's a safe bet that closet 'Rat Rove and his ilk will do whatever it takes to push Jebbie down our throats. Pray the electorate is smart enough to see through it.

Yep. Jeb may speak Spanish but he has none of the of the machismo of his older brother. Quite the contrary. He's soft. And while GWB got away with his verbal dyslexia by putting on his Texas Good Ol' Boy act, Jeb comes across as a pampered upper class twit.
