Officials in Virginia’s largest jurisdiction want to close public schools during the Super Tuesday presidential primary elections, saying they fear supporters of Republican frontrunner Donald Trump could cause mayhem at the polls.

The concerns stem mainly from a Republican Party of Virginia requirement that the March 1 primary voters affirm they are Republicans before voting for a presidential candidate.

This makes no sense, the Virginia Democrats were making you sign that pledge long before the Republicans started this year. All they did was level the playing field. By the way the pledge isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on. They cannot force anyone to vote in a particular party, it’s all scare tactics.

Exactly right, it isn’t worth getting excited about, sign and forget it because it is a worthless piece of paper.

The ruling elite are not stupid. this is agenda driven. right wing extremist could cause mayhem. Say it over and over and over again snowflakes, LIV’s and BLM think this is true.

Just like the next wave of gun grabbing it will be in movies and already in TV shows. It is already in our schools. Heck a kid with a pop-tart was tossed out of a school some time ago because it allegedly looked like a gun.

In our schools they are getting kids ready for sharia. Most are not stupid, only their voter base.

“Officials in Virginia’s largest jurisdiction want to close public schools during the Super Tuesday presidential primary, saying they fear that supporters of Republican frontrunner Donald Trump could cause mayhem at the polls.”

Just like the mayhem we’ve always caused at the polls in the past, right?

What in the world are these fools smoking? I didn’t realize it was legal in Virginia. Or maybe they’ve simply watched so many episodes of Portlandia they think that’s how the real world. These people are completely bonkers, but then again, that’s apparently what we Trump voters induce in uberlib “Progressives”.

From the school system Superintendent:

A message from FAIRFAX COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Dear Parents and Staff,

You may be reading or hearing about a request from the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors for FCPS to close schools on March 1, 2016, primary day in Virginia. As you know, the School Board voted in October to delay the opening of schools on March 1 by two hours at the request of the County Office of Elections to accommodate the anticipated heavy voter turnout. At this time, there are no plans to close schools for the entire day on March 1.

FCPS is obligated by law to have a 180 day calendar, and if FCPS is closed for primary day, another student holiday would need to be used as school day.

For many years, schools have been open and serving as polling locations without incident. The safety of our students, staff and visitors is always our priority and we work closely with election officials, our security team and law enforcement to ensure the safety of all. On election day, all school staff and voting officials at each site are asked to remain vigilant and quickly report any suspicious or inappropriate activity. Extra security patrols are added to address any concerns the schools may have and parent volunteers often assist by walking hallways and monitoring public areas.

Today’s suggestion to close schools on March 1 came as a complete surprise to both FCPS staff and the School Board. FCPS will be reaching out to the Elections Office to learn more about the new security concerns that have been raised. FCPS will continue to keep the community informed regarding any new developments.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Sincerely,

Karen K. Garza
Superintendent
Fairfax County Public Schools

The Virginia Republican Party should have to affirm they are Republicans first. These are the same people who got Terry McAuliffe elected.

I think this is all about the sheer numbers of Trump supporters that they are expecting, not their temperament. I expect the atmosphere to be quite festive, myself.

Given fear that the Republican Party will cause disruptions because of Trump, I suggest that we close the Republican Party - permanently.

Well, at least there’s no chance of mayhem associated with dumping 1000’s of yutes on the streets by closing skoolz.

The school system politicians aren’t afraid of Trump voters; they want to scare Republicans away from school-based polling places by unleashing gangs of young Democrat thugs.
