During her response to President Barack Obama’s last State of the Union address, the South Carolina Governor recounted her own Indian-American heritage to call for fixing the country’s broken immigration system.
Indian-American Republican Governor Nikki Haley on Wednesday faced flak from the supporters of her party’s presidential candidate Donald Trump, as she cited her family’s immigrant experience to warn against rhetoric that could make hardworking people feel unwelcome in the US.
During her response to President Barack Obama’s last State of the Union address, Ms. Haley recounted her own Indian-American heritage to call for fixing the country’s broken immigration system.
“During anxious times, it can be tempting to follow the siren call of the angriest voices. We must resist that temptation,†the South Carolina Governor said.
“No one who is willing to work hard, abide by our laws, and love our traditions should ever feel unwelcome in this country,†she said.
“We must fix our broken immigration system. That means stopping illegal immigration. And it means welcoming properly vetted legal immigrants, regardless of their race or religion.
Just like we have for centuries,†Ms. Haley said.
Mr. Trump said after the Paris terror attacks he would consider creating a national database of American Muslims and later called for a temporary halt to Muslims entering the United States.
Ms. Haley’s remarks apparently made Mr. Trump’s supporters upset, which was best reflected in the series of tweets made by Ann Coulter, a strong supporter of the Republican candidate.
“Trump should deport Nikki Haley,†tweeted Ms. Coulter.
“Nikki Haley says ‘welcoming properly vetted legal immigrants, regardless of religion.’ Translation: let in all the Muslims,†she tweeted.
“The country is lit up w/a populist fever & the GOP (Republican) responds by digging in, criticising the GOP candidates dominating polls?! NOT SMART,†radio talk show host Laura Ingraham tweeted
I dont think nikki could be deported as she was born as a citizen.
Her response was scripted rinse preberty pablum. If nikki had guts she would have written her own speech and tore up the gope script on camera.
But she is a good gope puppet and another dissapointment.

The simple solution is: OUTLAW ISLAM!

I was told by a Trump supporter to stay out of America because I don’t support Trump.
America gets one million first round draft picks when it comes to allowing immigrants to our shores. It’s time we pick ONLY the brightest, the hardest working, the most patriotic and the most committed to our way of life and the pursuit of liberty. You come to be an American first, not a Muslim first.
It's unforgiveable. We need candidates who understand who we are. Being born in the USA with citizen parents from India makes her eligible, but not immersed in US values and traditions.
The Trump supporter is wrong - “welcoming properly vetted legal immigrants, regardless of religion.” — does not mean “Let the Moslems in” — there are other religions...
Nikki Haley is the town bike of the GOP establishment.
Some of them yearn for a police state.
Nikki Haley said the should let anyone in who wants to undercut American wages as long as they seem nice on a personal level.
This is in line with Paul Ryan’s agenda. I want to know who wrote the speech for Haley.
Haley is not even a fiscal conservative. Even that joker Mark Sanford thinks she’s a clown.
Somebody should Photoshop Nikki Haley into a Borg. She has been assimilated.

Legally, it would be easier to get Cruz deported than Nikki.
