Putin is a Russian Orthodox. The eats side of the Ukrain is also Russian Orthodox. That is why they want to go to Russia. The west side is largly Roman Catholic.

Putin knows he is holding the tail of a dragon but I think Obama’s weakness finally prompted such a dangerous situation that he was forced to intervene. He is using some very powerful weapons and making an impression on both the Saudis and the Iranians. If he remains resolute he may just pull off a new balancing act but this remains to be seen. Trump noted that Putin “cannot stand” President Obama and that if would be benefit the U.S. to get along with Russia for “the mutual good of getting rid of” terrorist group the Islamic State, or ISIS.
