Patten would never get a job here with this sort of comment:

To deny freedom of speech and freedom of inquiry at a university would be a treason to the sort of values which a university should represent and which thanks heavens Oxford has represented over the years.

If we follow this liberal reasoning to its logical conclusion, the idea that our ancestors did not have a 21st century politically correct conscience, then literally everyone who came before us will be flawed in some way. Everyone who came before us in history needs to be tarred and feathered for being racist, sexist, bigoted in some way. There would be nobody at all in history to worthy of respect.

Or what about our own families. How many of our grandparents and great grand parents would have signed on to homosexual marriage, for example? How many of us had white ancestors in the south, in the days of Jim Crow? If they didn’t protest, then we need to treat their memories with scorn, if we are to follow the liberal line.

Karl Marx gets an exemption because he was a visionary.

What do you think made the announcement necessary? I suppose the babies at university problem in the U.S.

They can educate themselves. And when the gravy train stops, when the working taxpayers lower the hammer...

They can adapt or die! No great loss.

The ultimate devolution of homo sapiens; : History, morals, a conscience and the siren song of every imaginable perversion bloomed in perfect form when they were born.

Reminds me of my cats; cute, lovable but, in the end, totally self-absorbed beasts, useless in the continuum of humanity.

Maybe they could replace it with a statue of Slick Willie?

Trump’s influence. This would not have happened six months ago.

It is obvious that those students do not have much of an ability to think at all.

What are they doing at Oxford? Has Oxford succombed to Harvard and Yale level low standards for their humanities studies?

They once had the cojones to kick out Bubba Clinton, but lost the bubble when they later granted that slime an honorary degree.
